Shoot Or Don't Shoot - How much time to react?

Question for my fellow instructors ( I am a newb). Since this video is open on youtube, what do you think of adding this to the Conceal Carry course? To the rest of you permit holders whom watched this video, would you have liked this video included in the class?

I think it would be a great video to add, the hand is quicker than thee eye. But it needs to be the eye quicker than the hand. I would hate to shoot someone that was unarmed.

Awhile ago there was a news network guy (believe it was local news in Utah or in Florida) who had to go through the training scenarios for LEOs and basically got taught the reactionary distance/time for a knife attack the hard way. But yes we definitely need more awareness in the civilian sector on what it’s like to have to make that call, especially if there are others involved without a clear vibe on the situation. Even then only someone who has been on multiple calls for just about everything will be able to ā€œread the roomā€ if it’s not just an obvious scenario like a kidnapping with kids screaming save me(not the long road trip whine) or jerk neighbors(turn down your CoD/music at your house party).

Some just seek he truth; that said I agree with you

It’s pretty plain. You can be armed, aware, cautious…and still get killed. Police deal with it everyday!

But the police can and will shoot the guy and be justified… you and I cannot shoot the guy UNTIL WE ARE SURE ITS A GUN even though we deal with it every day.

I was only able to shoot one time before being shot and shot him 3 times with him being unarmed. Real thought provoking

Very tough decisions here. If suspect FAILS to Cooperate With The Officer, then more likely bodily harm will happen. And Yes, I would have shot this person only because He kept moving & reaching inside his vehicle. Prayers For All Who Have No Other Choice To stay ALIVE.

Excellent video. I wish more people would watch this to understand how little time there is for an officer to make the decision.

YOU AND I don’t get the comfort of ā€œnotā€ knowing… we would be arrested and charged-- that double standard the police enjoy while they are charging us.

My concern is more that you and I get no consideration from the police… they can shoot with impunity we cannot-- same situation!

I disagree they are held to a higher standard. I have several friends that are police

Jeez look at the mess caused by Leo’s in a legit shoot. Can’t win in any situation.

My point is that WE have to know if there is actually a gun before WE can defend ourselves-- same situation, same response time.

Yes, Danny I know, we would have to see persons weapon first…but is a terrible situation either way you look at it, especially watching it over & over again. I would like to see more videos where the very same thing happens & how, especially me, I would have reacted each time. This was a frightening unexpected mental turning point for me. I would be guilty no bones about it.
