SCOTUS overturns bump stock ban

I’m not yet willing to give up on America just because the Democrats and Republicans keep voting for politicians who clearly don’t have our best interests in the forefront of their decision making process and keep blaming the other side as the country circles the toilet no matter which side is in charge.

I have some fairly lefty views and some far right views as well. My in-laws are actually convinced I am a Trump supporter that just won’t admit to it out of shame. I don’t think he is any worse than the other kleptocrats in DC. I just don’t think he is any better either. But based on his words and actions I am convinced he is a clear threat to the 2A and is likely to be far more capable of taking our rights away than our current incompetent White House resident. The pretend pro 2A Republicans will stand up to Biden. But they will bow down to Trump just as they did to Regan when he let his true anti 2A colors shine through.

Given the way our politicians are running this country into the ground I believe there is a good chance we are going to need the 2A to save ourselves and what is left of this country. So I can not vote for someone who I am convinced will take that right away despite what he says on the campaign trail.

I’ve made plenty of mistakes in my life. But I admit to them once I realize I have made them. I can’t remember ever hearing Trump admit to a mistake he has made. He has not shown an ability to learn from his mistakes and I am not going to risk my freedoms by hoping he will suddenly change his stripes if he gets another chance.

So call me a liberal or a communist or whatever you want. But if you and other Republicans want my vote next time around you are going to have to come up with a much better option. And yes I know Biden is worse. But when the country is run by two corrupt parties the best we can hope for is a divided government. That at least slows the thieving process down a little. And no I won’t be voting for Biden either. The Dems also need to do a whole heck of a lot better with their choices if they want my vote.

Right-o. When I fire my rifle, I pull it solidly into the pocket of my shoulder. Having fired a bump stock, I had to maintain forward pressure on the fore end to make it work, which is counter productive to accuracy but, as Shamrock says, is great way to waste ammo. Unless, of course, your intent is to shoot up the countryside just for the hell of it, then this thing is definitely your huckleberry. I have to tell you, though. The novelty of this toy gets old fast. So, if you want to get a piece of equipment that you’ll probably use once then toss it into a closet to gather dust, knock yourself out.

Well said, Sir.

And this is the problem. There isn’t a side that’s corrupt and one that’s not. Both parties are corrupt, both look out only for themselves, both line their own pockets, and both don’t care how many normal citizens they trample on in order to stay in power.

If someone truly cared about the people that put them there, they would start the process of cleaning up the corruption and restoring the nation. Look at El Salvador. In one presidential term, the country went from the most dangerous and corrupt on earth to the safest, with a government that’s actually acting in the best interest of the people. It can be done. But it won’t happen until someone in power decides to start acting in the interests of their country over themselves.

Yup…that is how the game is played. Just keep precedent moving in the direction you want.

Ditto on neither.

BUMP STOCKS DO SEEM to encourge not being accurate, dont they. Some would say it’s irresponsible to encourage behavior in which you are suddenly not in control of your shots.

You should always be in control when using dangerous tools. Though different situations require different levels of control. If you are at a safe range with a good backstop and you have a lot of money to spend on ammo, you don’t have to worry all that much about your accuracy.

If you need to defend your family and there are a bunch of innocent bystanders around then you need to do everything you can to make sure each round goes where it needs to.

And @Mat Therein lies the problem, well said and point on.

Yeah I dont care for it either. But support anyone that wants one. Kind of like someone who is driving a VW beetle but wants a Porsch. I say go get you one if that’s what they want. If we give an inch they take a mile: us. Kind of like the politicians that say they support 2A rights then say " But" :us:

The choices are limited. If DeSantis, Haley or even Cheney were on the ticket, it would be a whole different ball game. I am even viewing the Biden ticket as a Harris ticket.

John Bolton, National Security Advisor to DJT, has said publicly that he’s writing in Dick Cheney. I will likely do the same.

Sounds pretty close. Though it is not just the liberal version. It is the anti self defense crowd’s version which crosses political lines.

Also I think their preferred clarifications are closer to this:

Keep - Only applies to single shot black powder firearms since that was the primary arms that existed when the 2A was written. Also they must be kept unloaded and locked in a safe with the ammunition stored in a different safe in a different room. This ensures that should you ever need it to defend yourself or your family you all will be dead long before you can get to it.

Bear - Once per year you can take your firearm (no one should be allowed to own more than one firearm) to the range for a brief practice session. This must be done under police escort to ensure you do not harm anyone along the way. Then a second trip is required to go back and get the ammunition which shall not be transported in the same vehicle as the firearm.

I am not a big fan of military industrial complex, war hawking neocons so Haley and Cheney would be out for me. Kinda surprised Cheney is still breathing. I saw his motorcade go by once when he was VP. It was being trailed by two ambulances. I assumed one was for when his heart gave out again and the other was for his hunting partners;)

Harris would likely turn out to be worse than Biden even though he would be ending his second term in an assisted living home with someone having to constantly wipe the drool from his mouth every time a nurse walked by.

I suspect DeSantis isn’t above the corruption either but I would have voted for him if he had made it through the primaries.

In this election, as in the last, I’m not judging anyone for how they vote. The choices we have are uninspiring to say the least, and everyone is kind of holding their noses and doing the best they can.

Go vote. Don’t judge. We’ll get through this.

“BUT” means “disregard EVERYTHING I just said…”

An inch of infringement here and there, before you know it, we’ve lost a foot.

But it can also mean in lieu of everything I just said.
