I have decided to switch from a folding blade to a pocket EDC fixed blade. I was carrying a James brand Kline for almost 2 years. I abused the ■■■■ out and even broke the stud on the blade. James brand gave me a replacement!!! The Kline is a great folder, a ton of money for a knife but it is worth every penny.
Back to the fixed blade—I got it in the mail today! The packaging is amazing, and it’s the sharpest knife I have ever owned out of the box. I am going to give it a test run in 2025!! I am super excited!
It will be the do-it-all- EDC-cutting box, preparing food, camping, and even my self-defense blade.

I always have a few blades on me when I go out of the house. I have a couple of folders I keep in my pocket. That being said I still carry 2 fixed blade knives. So I am a big fan of fixed blades as a SD weapon.

Maybe it is just me, but I would never cut cardboard with my self defense knife. That is for SD only and nothing else. It rides in its own pocket and the same pocket on every pair of trousers that I own including shorts. I clean it once a week with Hoppe’s spray cleaner/lubricant.

I had the same thought for a long time about having an edge weapon just for defense only- What I realize, is if I have a good blade and maintain it like I do my firearm- I just need one do-it-all edge blade. Knowing how to keep the blade shape is the same thing as learning how to strip down a 1911/20211-
I use my blade for everyday tasks, and having the blade in the same location on my body reinforces my draw and it becomes automatic if I need to use it to defend myself.
