Just randomly came across this old thread but wanted to clear things up since I’m a former NAGR employee – and I lead their independent Texas state affiliate, Texas Gun Rights, which proudly partnered with the USCCA in 2025.
I’m extremely aware of this NRA alert from back then and the entire situation as I was employed by NAGR at the time. I was also a groomsmen in DJ Parten’s wedding.
TLDR: Marion Hammer (who issued the alert for the NRA) is a washed up POS who stopped fighting for gun rights decades ago. She was furious when other people encroached on “her” terrirtory in Florida (namely florida gun rights & DJ Parten). So when DJ moved away from Florida to go back to his home state of Alabama, she decided to take a shot at him.

People are tired of grifters. And the NRA and its cabal have been the biggest grifters of the gun rights movement for awhile. I am hopeful they’re starting to “right the ship” under new leadership, but they pathetically caved on suppressor & SBR decriminaliztion during the “One Big Beautiful Bill” fight, so I’m not holding my breath.
Also, the video above is the dumbest and most dangerous take ever. The “Yankee Marshall” should stay far, far away from anything gun rights related if he doesn’t believe EVERY gun law should be fought ferociously, no matter if it is guns, ammo or accessories. The other side is ALWAYS looking to get the camels nose under the tent to set precedent for going after everything else. Even your common idiot can figure that out.
