Sound advice. :+1:

While I think getting an AR15 or similarly capable semi auto rifle is a good idea it wouldn’t top my list of needed items. I would consider a shotgun optional for most folks. A high capacity pistol that is easy to conceal would likely be much handier for someone expecting 2020 style disruptions than either of their first two options.

Body armor is a nice have but not something most people are going to wear on a daily basis short of a full on societal meltdown. And even then it is debatable whether the loss of mobility is worth the added protection.

If it is a repeat of 2020 people are expecting then the obvious place to start is filling the pantry full of non perishable food and toilet paper. I would add to that a reliable source of drinking water and way to recharge batteries for flashlights and mobile devices along with a way to cook food if things get worse and the grid goes down.Only after doing all that would I start worrying about self defense items.

…and you still don’t know the Three Seashells Rule

John Spartan: I’m happy that you’re happy, but the place where you’re supposed to have the toilet paper, you’ve got this little shelf with three seashells on it .

Erwin: He doesn’t know how to use the three seashells

I’d love to have those items at home. Right now they are “lost” in another state. Still do not trust local police, national guard or military to try to confiscate.
The same for portable solar generators, food, water, medicines, etc.

I predict we’re all going to be greatly relieved. Law enforcement and the many national guards are more prepared now than four years ago, really more than ever. Given all the anxiety people are expressing, and considering FBI Director Wray’s comments earlier this year (“I see blinking lights everywhere I look”), there’s no doubt all federal and state agencies are in condition 2 at the very least.

Rest well, kiss your kids, hug your wife, tip back a cold one, and enjoy life.

The republic will go on.

One other thought on this.

The best place to be if and when mayhem breaks out is nowhere near the mayhem.

I’ve had tabletop discussions with a few friends about this, and our conclusion is that if we’re in our homes and there’s a crowd of hundreds of people with pitchforks and torches coming up our driveway, no amount of firepower inside the house manned by one or two people is going to be able to stop it. In this scenario, you’ve lost the battle before it even started.

Some might think, “Hey, protesters are chicken. The first volley of 00 Buck will send them scattering.” Maybe. It could also enrage them, at which point you are totally SOL.

Better to proactively retreat to a safe location far away from the mayhem, regroup, and focus on basic survival until the mayhem goes somewhere else. Let them burn my house and steal my crap - I can always buy more of it. Life is more important.

I don’t have the same faith as you that the agencies and the politicians who sometimes are able to control them have learned their lessons.

I am actually more concerned about the reactions of these agencies and the kleptocrats in charge to the next serious events than I am concerned about the events themselves. Seems like every time bad people do bad things they decide to further infringe upon the rights of good people instead of going after the bad ones.

I really don’t think enough people get why Ramen is actually a good survival food, it’s cheap, it lasts forever, and as long as you stockpile a good supply of vitamins, you can survive quite well on it. I have so many cases of it as a just in case. Just be aware of sodium and make sure you have a good multivitamin.

But for the amount of space it takes you could easily and affordably stockpile a years worth of food and vitamins.

All good reasons to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

I.e., keep your powder dry.

AND enjoy life.

Ramen is one of my go to camping foods. Bring water to a boil add some fresh or dehydrated vegetables and a little canned or dehydrated meat and you have a super quick, easy and filling meal.

I don’t use the flavor packets just for that reason, I put a little Teriyaki Sauce and butter in them .

that is what I keep telling my wife when she ask about my healthy stockpile of Ramen

Sams club is a great source of big cases of Ramen for next to nothing. Of course, they’re great for stocking up on a lot of supplies. Since 2020 we’ve devoted a lot of time, money, and storage space to stocking up.

After the “mostly peaceful riots” and the Covid scarcity on many goods. I increased my stores significantly, and to be perfectly honest I am very worried about what’s going to happen.
