That Sir , is 2 blocks from my Condo. On Saturdays in the summer they have the farmers market right there where this happened.

It doesn’t matter if you are 25 yards or 2 yards far from the threat. The important is how confident you are shooting from any distance. Practice is easy, real life not so much.
I’m pretty ok with fast shooting up to 10 - 12 yards. This distance doesn’t require much thinking - you aim, you point, you shoot. In longer distance I have to use some tactics which may be different and depends on current situation and environment. But I definitely do know what to do, because I know my limitations.

At work we have to qualify on 25 yard targets ( part of range test) to keep our P.O.S.T Certification yearly

That’s the first time I tried it that far with that handgun. Nothing but straight out the box stock GLOCK . I bought it several years ago when the department I proudly work for went from Smith &Wesson .38 Special. I wanted one just like work so I could get in practice on my own time.

I used to be pretty good with my stock G19 out to 50 yards. Well almost stock I replaced the plastic sights with a front orange ringed night sight and black rear sight.

By good I mean I could hit more than I missed on my reduced sized (12”x20”) IDPA shaped steel target. This required me to go slow and worked better when I could shoot from a knee, prone or best when I can brace against some cover like a tree or car hood.

Figured out yesterday though that I am a bit rusty at distance shooting offhand. Had a couple of misses with the one mag I tried at 25 yards with my new Canik and it is a much easier pistol to shoot accurately with than my trusty old Glock. I will have to re assess my Glock skills at longer ranges.

I live, work and play in fairly open country. If someone is attempting to severely harm me or my family, and has the potential ability to actually inflict harm, I am going to defend myself and those with me regardless of the distance. Unless we have a path to retreat that guarantees everyones safety.

Is that one of those 1200 rounds per minute Glocks?

Good for you. Good strategy. Also - Consider the FBI “Rule of 3’s” for “Defensive Shooting”. Typical gun fights = 3 shots, in 3 seconds at 3 yds. Note - All 3 shots need to be inside an 8in circle(High Ctr Chest). “On the line” counts as Good. Use std IDPA Targets.
Procedure:
From the Draw - Start. Draw, Aim, Fire - 3 shots at 3 yds(Say 10ft), in 3 Seconds = ("FBI Rule of 3’s). For a “Trained, Defensive Shooter” this is Fairly Easy. I can do it in say 2 seconds. But I shoot a Lot - Say 100rds/wk for 10+yr(Combat Competition) & Practice. And I am old as dirt - 77.

How about a video of shooting targets instead of just a target? Local practice match, finished high overall.

That would be awesome to do. But I have no access anything like that here I live in the sticks on the other side of BFE. I actually joined IDPA a couple years ago. The nearest events were a four hour drive away. I am not knocking that but nearest indoor range is 2 hours away and can’t do anything like that. When I joined IDPA that time I got a receipt by email as well as a welcome letter. Next time I heard was a year later wanting dues to renew my membership. Out here we just hang targets out in woods or pastures. Now I do “move” around shooting targets because you ain’t gonna hit anything for miles. Thanks for input. I liked the video.

I also train in pasture using a combination of AR, Handgun and shotgun in my own “ three way” set up.

That sucks. This was a USPSA match, there is more of that around here. For me the 3 closest places to do it all are 2 hours away. This indoor match is over a 9 pm on a work night and I don’t get home until midnight and get up at 430 the next morning for work. Oof.

A great place to look for things near you is

If there is anything good in your area you’ll probably find it there.

Great video… :metal:
The reason we show the targets is that we can see hits… :joy:

Learning from your target is a key way to teach yourself to improve. Teaching others to teach themselves is priceless! You are shooting to the left and low, WHY? Your shots are all over the place, WHY? What do you see? Why are you seeing this? How do you fix the problem?
