Those are all questions I had when I started this lifestyle of concealed carrying, and I was able to find answers to most of them here on the USCCA website. Some took a bit of digging, but most were on their “Facts & Fiction” and “Terminology” pages.

HOWEVER, what still baffles me about a lot of them is the WHY?, or the Pros & Cons.

What I mean is: pros & cons of striker vs. hammer; of single-action vs. double, why does it matter what MOA one picks. Why do any of these things matter if I (or any greenhorn/newbie) just wants to find a gun I can carry all day and use effectively/safely. USCCA’s web pages, and all their magazine articles, videos and training series are sorely lacking in explaining the WHY of these matters. And everywhere else I’ve looked is the same.

I once was approached with a good point from a Lt., If you do not know the question, you cannot have an answer. We are all here to ask questions and share answers. Knowledge is the key to responsibility.

MOA, Minute Of Angle.

Without going to google it’s taking the angle of one degree in a circle and dividing it by 60, it’s commonly used in rifle scopes and sight pictures as it equates to roughly 1 inch at 100 yards.

Example, the reticle of my Eotech on my Tavor has a 68 MOA ring.

This gives me basic range finding, if im shooting at a man size target, roughly 5’10”-6’ and they’re the same size as the ring,… they’re just about 100 yards away, half the circle? Two hundred yards, twice the circle, 50 yards.

You ask good questions.

Thank you! That makes so much sense, now that you’ve explained it!

What should you do before handling a gun?

What should you do if you encounter a misfire?

What should you do if you encounter a squib load (a bullet that doesn’t exit the barrel)?

What should you do if you notice someone mishandling a firearm?

Do the 4 basic safety rules only apply at the range?

Pray the rosary and sprinkle holy water on it to remove the demons that cause guns to kill people.

Check ignition timing

Squab? No thanks pigeons are disgusting.

Run like hell.

And at all other times.

Range neighbor today hit the shuttle track with a rifle???

To be fair, he had never shot it and was trying to sight the optic.

Still, I was happy to be out of ammunition and just waiting for my pistol to cool off before leaving!

Did it cost him money? Or, damage was minimal?

Minimum charge at indoor range is $100.

$25 for an hour, only if they’re busy… otherwise stay as long as you want!

his round hit the shuttle track and cut the line…. Could be more damage down range? :man_shrugging:

It doesn’t take much to cut the kite string that moves the shuttles., at first I thought it was the muzzle blast of the rifle…. But then I saw a round spark off the shuttle track and knew he was hitting super high!

I meant, was he made to pay for the damage?
