I never leave home without a concealed firearm.
Most all the time, and where legally allowed.
I, like you, always have my firearm with me, at home, especially when answering the door or outside the home. If I stop some where it’s not permitted (I’m in the state of illinoid) it’s in a steel locked case secured with cable in my car. I put it back on when I get back to the car. My proffered carry is a Ruger SR9c. Walther Creed is my alternate.

I carried that as late as last year. Reliable❗️
Except in restricted areas, I’m the “GREY MAN”

I prefer my Colt .45 Combat Elite, but I’m a small guy so I carry a Kimber Micro 9 (mini 1911)
Hello and welcome @Ken127
Welcome to the forum! We are glad to have you with us! My wife wants the Micro 9 Bel Air, but honestly, I don’t know that she’d shoot it. How do you like the micro 9?
Besides at work which is not allowed, 24/7/365, in fact i carry 2 or more to make up for when I’m at work…
I like it a lot and it is my EDC. Before it, I carried a SW 642 .38 or a Star semiauto .380, so it took a while to get used to carrying cocked and locked.
It did take a while to get used to the cocked and locked 1911, but try carrying a striker fired with no safeties lol that took a hot minute for me to get comfortable with. I carried around the house with snaps for a good while
Whatever it takes to get comfortable, my first carry was a Ruger P95PR, decocker. Double action on the first pull, single after that, external safety or not, it does not bother me, got a 44 mag on the hip and a 1911 10mm with just the slide safety engaged no worries…
Striker fired pistols have multiple safeties.
IME once people realize the striker fired (other than SIG) don’t go off unless the trigger is pulled, and also realize that they train to always swipe the safety off as soon as they draw their single action, they realize the striker fired is safer when in their hands than the cocked and now unlocked single action. Or a draw at worst
…
I carry when I am out and about. At home one is in reach all of the time.
Knowledge is empowering.
I carried my empty but cocked for months, just wanted to be sure the pin didn’t fall. Now I’m comfortable that it won’t UD on my butt cheek.
Welcome to the family @Ken127 and you are in the right place at the right time.
The Ruger SR9c is such a sweet pistol. My son carrys mine. I carry a Walther CCP as my EDC & a Ruger LC9s for pocket carry.
I would like to get a CCP, the Creed is very easy and accurate to shoot but, a little big for EDC. May trade the SR9c for a CCP. Or maybe keep both. ![]()
You know you have to keep both of them, Right?
