What gun do you carry while running/jogging, and how do you carry it?
For me, Glock 42 or Ruger LCP 22lr in appendix IWB Kydex holster tied down in gym shorts.

My very protective Staffy/foxhound, the P365 is my back up.

My days of running for fitness or fun are over, but I carried for years while trail running and jogging around cities when I had to. I carried a waist pack with my Walkman (and later iPod) some small first aid supplies, a flip phone (for emergency use only and just in the last few years I ran a lot), and a Beretta Model 21A in 22LR with a spare mag inside. I had to use it once. Worked pretty well.
Sounds like you were well prepared.
Have tried to get my wife to carry using the waist pack, but pretty hot here in AZ in the summer and she refuses. I go the minimalist route and keep my phone in a zip pocket in my shorts and use bluetooth earbuds. (Am old enough to remember running with my walkman years ago).
Just curious. What did you use the 22LR for? I see coyotes and Javelinas once in awhile here but try to avoid them. I assume a few rounds of .22 lr would be a good deterrent if needed,
Not sure about things like “belly bands” but fitness apparel companies like Hylete have shorts that have elastic material and belt looks that you could run in.
@Jason148 not all belly bands are created equal, but I use one for sub-compact and micro pistols when playing sports and stuff like that nowadays. Mine has a good thumb release snap retention strap, which I consider a must have. I’ve tested them with rubber pistols many times in combatives and martial arts classes. Never had a failure of any kind. You do have to wear them pretty tight for them to be safe and effective, and some people complain about it. But some folks complain about the property tax if you give them a free custom built home.
I loaded the pistol with CCI Minimag HPs. Polymer frame sub-compact pistols were not common in those days. Neither was anything Bluetooth! LOL This was as lightweight and compact as I could go with a reliable pistol in those days. It was a “better than nothing” decision, and I ran in areas with a LOT of feral dogs, hogs, mountain lions, alligators, and the occasional bear – in addition to the possibility of 2-legged predators 1 might stumble across now and then. Obviously, using a 22 micro pistol vs a lion or bear is NOT good odds, but it was still better than throwing rocks. For all the other threats listed, my skills in those days made the weapon effective as a self-defense tool. I routinely put 7 shots in a 3x5 index card at 15 yds in under 4 seconds with that pistol firing unsupported with my dom hand and in 5 seconds with my non-dominant hand. I also learned to hunt rabbits and squirrels with a Ruger Single Six as a boy. That was more like a 50/50 proposition due to the moving targets. Of course, my parents made me pay for my own ammo when I started using the revolver instead of the single shot rifle. But I thought it was way more fun.
I usually don’t carry a firearm. Honestly, in the Summer, I don’t have anything.
Sometimes in the Winter I might carry a flashlight or a tac pen in my jacket. I’ve carried my .380 a few times and it wasn’t too bad, but I wasn’t trying to break any records, either. I noticed it bouncing around in my zipped-up jacket pocket, but it wasn’t obtrusive.
I feel safe in my general area, though, and I’m not the type that bad guys are going to target. If those two factors were different, I’d probably just use it as a good excuse to stop running.
I carry my Kimber Ultra Carry II 9mm when I run. This may be TMI, but under my running shorts I wear spandex shorts. I have a lightweight belt that I wrap around me, then put my gun there before putting my running shorts on. I keep my gun at 3 o’clock. Stays nice and snug for me. Since I am not the most graceful runner, the less movement the better.
My area is really safe but my wife encountered a shirtless guy running in 20 degree weather and he said some nasty stuff to her, (he later verbally assaulted a couple on the same trail), so since then, we both carry.
They make pepper gel that easily straps onto an arm too. I don’t do that myself, but I’d encourage my wife or daughter too carry that when running.
I’ve ran with a gun as well, but I’m not a big fan, it just shakes too much. I’m there with @Ouade5. I don’t carry when running anymore (not that I run , I need to get back to it). I also skateboard sometimes and a firearm would cause more harm than good when I fall.
I tried the belly band. I still have them, BUT I’m not comfortable carrying in anything other than a kydex holster at this point.
If I’m going for a walk around the neighborhood I will carry.
Yes pepper spray is great my wife carries it when we run. I carry plan B in case things go to the next worse level.
If running on my own not as prone to carry. Agree that at 6ft athletic and martial arts trained I am not a prime target. But we do have coyotes and Javelinas about. If running with my wife, I feel the need to be more protective and better armed.
Good idea. 99.9% of the time a run is good exercise, care free and a good way to clear the head and spend time with the wife. It the 0.1% You have to worry about.
Interesting subject. I never carry when I run. But I’m a scrawny old man, even wild animals wouldn’t get much:-) I do occasionally run with a female friend and she carries spray but says she always feels safer when I run with her. Together we wouldn’t make 240lbs. I don’t feel a runner is at particular risk in my area, not a big city.
I would rather get poked in the eye with a sharp stick than run!
Forgot this is the internet… I run with a Baretta 92FS at 4 ocklock, a Glock 43 around my ankle, a first aid kit around my other ankle, 2 spare mags, and a karambit blade. I barely notice it in my gym shorts and a T. Easily conceals.
LOL. Good one.

Has a belt clip and less bulk than a normal pocket knife. Love this thing!
Physical problems preclude running, or even walking long distances, but I can bicycle. In my bike pouch, I have a S&W 642 loaded with Hornady Critical Defense, plus two speed loaders, one with Honey Badger ammo and another with CCI snake shot ammo (all 38 spl), in case I run across a pit viper that won’t move off. I also carry a 3" folding knife with quick-open capability, and a stun gun for a less-lethal option, on my person, in addition to a basic bike repair took kit in the pouch
