My Mom just got her CPL, and she is looking to get her own pistol. She is looking at the Sig Sauer P365X, I do not know a lot about this gun or ever shot one. I watched a few reviews and I don’t think it is a bad buy for her, but I would like to know what people think about the P365X that own or have shot one.
Hi @906Robert ,
Sig P365X is a very good choice. You Mom will be super happy carrying and shooting it.
Just be sure it fits her hand. Even the pistol is a compact size sometimes it may not be what the shooter is expecting.
She has handled one in the store, but before I buy it for her I just wanted to do a last doble check. Its just hard when you cant shoot them before buying them, and unfortunately no one we know has a sig. So I figured the Community would be able to help in this situation.
I have shot one.
It didn’t fit my hand, it was too small, so was ruled out as a potential purchase for that reason. Otherwise, I was pleased with it.
The only problem with P365X may occur when the grip doesn’t feel good in your hand.
Other than that, this is one of the best compact size pistols.
The grip was a little small for my hand as well, but the grip module is replaceable, so I got a Wilson Combat grip for it, and it’s a much better fit now.
Apparently you can get one with a thumb safety, mine does not have it, that means literally NO safety other than the shooter.
So that may be a consideration for her.
Overall, I’m super happy with it, never had a failure that was the guns fault, even after not cleaning it for 2 months of every day carry it ran perfectly.
Call around to local ranges and see if you can rent one for her to try before buying.
You might want to consider her age as well. My uncle had to switch over to a revolver because he couldn’t get the slide back. Talk to the store/sales rep to find one that is easy to slide back for her.
Counter point to that, is the heavy DA trigger pull of a revolver. (At least most)
I had (HAD) an SP101 357mag, in SA it was a doll!!!
In SA I couldn’t shoot my way out of a cardboard box!
I have thought of that but the closet ranges that would do that to us is more than 4 hours drive. I would be willing to do it but she said that holding it, cocking it and watching the reviews was enough for her. But I will try again and get her to go to a rage that lets us shoot before buying.
At this moment in time she dose not have a problem with the slide on the Sig she looked at in the store. She also has not problem pulling the slide on my 1911. Now later on if it gets to be a problem I will definitely buy her a revolver or what ever fits her best if that is what she wants.
My wife has one and so does my daughter and my mom. They all love it! I gave mine to my mom, she had an old 45 ACP that was too big for her. I loved it too! Really good shooting. Compact and comfortable to shoot.
The Sig P365X would be great. I own a Sig P365 with the mag extension pinky finger which the Sig P365X handgrip eliminates/compensates for that type of mag which makes the P365X very nice, and other than that, it’s basically the same, both use same holsters etc…(except magazines), but all and all a very nice pistol. Love my Sig P365, and own the full size Sig P320, as well. What I like about the Sig P365 of all other compact pistols is the size, weight, thinnest. The Springfield Hellcat is another closest nice pistol, too.
Great choice. Bought mine 2 years ago and have carried it every day since. It took a while to adjust to the X-ray rear sights, but it 's a simple swap out if it becomes necessary. Also converted to the Wilson Combat grip module and a 15 round magazine.
Another thing about the Sig P365X for your wife, look into the Sig P365X Rose, if she’s into the Girly Rose type print, including many accessories available in Rose print, (Ladies pistol). Available at sigsauer.com
Sig doesn’t make a P365X Rose, only a XL 9mm and 365 380(I have).
Softest shooting 380, easy slide.
On the Xmacro I just couldn’t get around the mushy trigger feel, otherwise with a WC grip it’s a great carry size.
Went back to HK for my carry.
Hth
Just looked into it, and you’re correct.
Kimber Ultra carry 2 comes in a 45 ACP and is the same length as the P365X, just a little fatter and a bit of a recoil.
My mom has a P365, but hasn’t been able to go shooting because of health problems. I like it.
I’d recommend having her try it, as well as the Walther PDP-F, which is designed specifically for women’s hands.
I own one and love it for my arthritic hands.
