One pistol will be compliant in every state?

I live in AZ but because of work I travel nationwide. My EDC for when I am at home is a P365XL with compensator, Micro Red Dot, weapon light and 21 round mag. I know the capacity isn’t allowed in several states which keeps me from taking it on the road with me, which is why I carry my Whiteknuckler C7 with cross draw tactical sheath.

Anyways, with the possibility of my AZ CCW permit being accepted nationwide I’m looking for something that will meet every states regulations. I don’t want to fly into a state with it and then get in trouble when I try to fly back out.

Looking for recommendations. Maybe the Sig P365 California?

I believe the Glock 43X is good in all 50 states including CA with the factory 10 round mag.

Would it be safe to say that if it’s CA compliant it’s compliant everywhere else?

Will these work?

My Ruger SR9c has 10 round mags but takes the 17 round ones from the SR9 too.

I wouldn’t count on that. Several Eastern States are somehow even more anti self defense than CA.

In general I suspect a pistol with a 10 round mag and no compensated or threaded barrel should work in most ( perhaps all?) States. CA has a roster of pistols that are legal to purchase there but it is my understanding that you can posses non roster firearms as long as they were legally purchased and comply with all their other restrictions.

Another thing to be aware of is that some states don’t allow the possession and/or carry of hollow point ammo.

Good to know if one must travel to, or through a lot of different state’s frequently, like an over the road, long haul truck driver.

Having to worry about frequent changing capacity laws is just one less thing to worry about like frequent fluctuating speed limits.

I won’t go into CA anymore without my CC.

@Robert1657 Welcome to the community! Since you’re already acquainted with a Sig P365XL, the Sig P365 compact with 10 round magazine would be perfect.

But, why?

This. Take it to New Jersey and you’ll learn quickly that it’s not compliant…

Only drones are compliant in Jersey.

No more than a 10 round mag is the biggest thing.

If you really want to guarantee it’s compliant, provided handguns are okay at all, make it a plain jane revolver and remove all doubt

Just keep in mind there are states where you cannot bring any handgun no matter what it is

Where, literally, even a slingshot or standard size pepper spray are illegal

Be careful with hollow point ammo as civilian. I think NJ doesn’t allow to use it… :grimacing:

Don’t carry blanks… it’s not a smart idea… :joy:
