Sounds like a failure to follow training incident.

It would be interesting to know what the training actually is for that area. In my area, I have had two occasions when I told LEO I was armed. In one case, he asked ME to remove the firearm and place it in a safe place. In the other, he just said “well don’t go for yours, and I won’t go for mine”, with a big smile. Both events were very friendly and casual.

Sticking his bugger hook on the bang switch was his first mistake. Trigger control is not just for your gun, it’s for any, and every gun that you handle.

There was no reason to remove him from the vehicle. The firearm was holstered, he was seated in his vehicle. He notified the first officer that he was armed, he was compliant and cordial with the officer. The officer instead of reviewing his paperwork removes him from the vehicle with 2 other officers there for backup?

The female officer then struggles with the holster belt clip and makes the brilliant decision to pull the firearm from the holster and while doing so puts her booger picker inside the trigger guard.

All business could have been handled with the now victim safely seated in the vehicle. Instead said victim, rightly so, will receive a huge settlement for the holes he received at the hands of an unqualified cop and another who I guess wanted to make his stop more exciting?

You can’t fix stupid.

Hmmm …

This was a traffic stop for running a red light, not a felony stop. How about “Stay in your car while I write a ticket.”

There’s no one more dangerous with a gun than a cop, I know a man who owns one of the biggest gun shops around and also owns a big range and he won’t let a cop on his range. He said they think they know everything and won’t follow any of the rules of the range because they think they don’t have to.
His words not mine.
