NY Carry Requirements with LEOSA Carry Permit

I will be traveling to NY at the end of the year & need to know what the carry requirements are for individuals who hold a LEOSA Concealed Carry Permit. I’ve read that I can’t have a magazine that holds more than 6 rounds & I can only carry ball ammo. I need some clarification. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the family brother @Steven556. I am a current resident of the state of Virginia. I am a retired NYPD Detective. I resided in NY most of my life. I have had my LEOSA card for 3 years now. During our yearly qualification we were told we can carry in NY as long as you have a 10 round magazine. That is the same for all 50 states. It has to be a 10 round mag, not a higher capacity mag with 10 rounds. Not sure but NJ did not allow hollow points at one point but it may have changed. The documents they told us to carry in class were the actual LEOSA card, a concealed carry permit issued by your resident state and your retired law enforcement ID card, mine is stamped retired.
