Non lethal launchers

I have been considering adding a non lethal launcher to my arsenal. The most common unit seems to be the options from Byrna (www.byrna.com). But they seemed to be a bit pricey for me.

I recently ran across another similar product for a considerably lower price. For anyone interested, feel free to check out www.sabreradio.com for a site with a good discount. From there, you can also go to their home page for more info and options.

I am NOT affiliated in any way. Just sharing the info,

Still pricey for my taste but I might consider for my daughter who’s currently carrying a taser.

I still can’t come to terms with pulling a launcher that looks like a gun without being mistaken for drawing a real pistol, and I suddenly find myself in a gunbattle without a gun

This seems to be the best non lethal tool for me.
Small, handy and I can have several of them in different places.

As @John292 mentioned - pulling launcher may look bad and may give some not expected outcomes.
Small container of pepper gel / spray still looks dangerous to anyone who’s got bad intentions.

@Ray109 That’s great and worth looking into, thanks for sharing!

There’s also the consideration of “just how much stuff can I carry around with me?” I don’t want to have to heft 10 or 20 pounds of utility belt, backpack, and armor every time I leave the house. Not to mention the investment of $$$ and the training time it takes to be able to choose and effectively deploy one of the many options.

I agree with Jerzees. A small chemical spray unit can be a reasonable non-lethal addition to a defensive regimen. It’s small, lightweight, and easily deployed with your off hand.

I use a bite-trained Cane Corso, that’s about as non-lethal in my home you’re going to get, she even deploys herself without prompting.
Otherwise “non-lethal” projectiles and the like are spectacular failures, and are a luxury to be used by police, typically with other officers standing by when non lethal inevitably pisses the subject off to the point of being shot.
IMO the risk of failure is very high, and even the possession of such may expose you to prosecution cross examination “why did you use lethal force against this friendly home invader when you had a Byrna nearby?”, and the civil suit that follows will be argued on the basis of “you had a Byrna, there was no reason to shoot our peace-loving relative minding his own business in your home”. :joy:
The only “non-lethal” there is should be the projectile that unfortunately failed to terminate the subject.

The accuracy and range may not be as claimed, and sometimes the projectiles fail to disperse.

We currently have a friend who is being stalked by her ex. She has gone the PPO route , changed locks, etc. This creep is starting to step it up, she came out of work and all 4 tires on her car were flat today, plus other messages she is getting on her phone.

Now she’s thinking the CCW route. She’s not against guns but never dealt with them before. I told her it takes time to train, etc and also the legal ramifications if she has to shoot him.

I mentioned the Byrna and Sabre products. We have a cabellas next town over and they carry 1 of them. Good stepping stone to either use or atleast get her through til she’s trained up and comfortable with a firearm.
