No one wants an M&P40?

I recently bought a P-01 and am looking to sell my M&P40. Local gun shops won’t even take them on consignment because no one wants to buy them. They said I’d be lucky to get $150. (P-01 is awesome by the way…)

Congrats on your CZ P01
Yes that is an awesome handgun.
I have “Omega” version and even I stoped shooting her I will never get rid of her.

Regarding your M&P 40.
Go to GunBroker website and check the price of this model.
Price depends on gun’s condition and accessories but I wouldn’t expect to get more than $180 - $200. Subtracting all the time and costs… I’d suggest to keep it or if you visit any local Gun Shows try to sell it there, avoiding any third parties fees.

Hang on to it for a while, firearm values follow trends like everything else.

I struggled to sell a 380 pistol for $350 some time back because nobody wanted a 380. Selling price for that pistol today is $650 and up. I have a 40 I was offered $100 to trade in. Since it has a rail I added a light and it has become my bedside piece.

I have a M&P shield a Glock 27 and a Beretta Centurion all in .40 and i love them all. I know ammo tends to be at least double that of 9mm but that’s ok i got it all during the looming Obama administration lol. (Before all ammo skyrocketed). I often refer to my 40’s as 10mm light/special(Corte) in reality the 10mm is really just a .40 magnum.

Also remember gun shops are out to make money. I’ve never seen a gun shop offer anything decent for used guns. On a personal sale hopefully to someone you know sell the fact that .40S&W is a much better round if you want to stop a threat in its tracks compared to a 9mm a round that years ago was considered weak.
Using my logic a 9mm is eally just a .380 magnum. Lol

Get a .40 to 9 mm conversion barrel some magazines and you have a fresh gun in the stable

How much do you want?

PS: don’t tell my wife or @Karacal that I’m asking

That’s weird to hear. One of my carry pistol is an M&P40, great pistol, shoots great, easy to conceal with summer clothes on, it’s actually my second favorite to carry.
One of my best buddy, a combat vet, carries his every day.

I’ve been hearing about this trend for a while now, that people have moved away from .40, including LE agencies, switching back to 9mm. So many of the Aim Surplus emails titled “LEO Trade Ins” are usually a long list of .40s that various agencies are dumping. One store I frequent won’t even stock any .40s because there’s no demand anymore. I’m not criticizing the round and I know there are a lot of loyalists out there. I’ve just been hearing about this shift taking place for several years now.

You are right that 40 is not as popular as it used to be, but as long as ammo is easily available, it’s still a viable option between 9 and 45.
Don’t get me wrong, I love other calibers as well, I’m a gun-hoe after all
I have 6 different calibers in handguns

Had I known about 4 months ago, we would negotiate. Bought a 40 cal and have not fired it once due to weather conditions. We have a small area used as a range but with the summer drying, it is not considered safe to use without wetting everything down. Just not worth it for one user, one pistol running a box of ammunition. After it rains, there will be a lot of different calibers put down range. All local approved ranges are 40 miles away and have an hour wait to get inside.

Hey @Karacal

@TheKid wants to buy M&P 40.
Are you ok with it? Or ask his wife, hopefully she’s got an answer.

I have a Glock 22 that I retired with as an LEO, which is my bedside table pistol, for my EDC it’s a Glock 27. If I need a quick pocket gun on occasion I will sometimes carry a J frame S&W .38+P. I know that the 9mm is all the rage now but I prefer calibers that begin with .4 as does my Kimber 1911 in .45.

I like it and it shoots really well. I swapped out the sear and polished everything, so the trigger is smooth (its a 1.0 not 2.0, so it needed it). Never jams. But the CZ P01 is just a much better gun for me (aside from the lesser caliber argument). And honestly, i can handle a 9mm better than a 40, especially the way the CZ fits my hands. I just dont think i will shoot the MP that much anymore, so i’d rather sell it to someone that will enjoy it. If anyone here wants it, happy to sell.

I believe that there is a 40 to 9mm conversation barrel available for the M&P 40. Try with the popular online sites.
