Israeli made.
I don’t, personally, have a drone problem, however, my do-want-o-meter exploded.
Duck hunters just pooped their pants.
Exactly
Just think, if you can use it on drones or birds, it means that you can use it on anything moving. Come to think of it, getting off the X might not help!
Pretty much.
These are amazing times. A rifle scope that allows a soldier to rapidly engage and destroy an enemy drone with his M4 carbine, without having to call for assistance from something or someone, amazing. Next thing you know they’ll develop MRE’s that taste good…oh, wait…they already did that…now we have everything…LOL
IIRC I had heard of a similar shoulder fired scope meant for snipers years ago, works similar to the targeting system of fighter aircraft. Computer locks on and tracks the target, calculating the range, motion, bullet drop and gives the operator an aim point. Then once the operator sweeps that aim point the computer automatically fires the gun almost guaranteeing a hit.
The only issue I see with this as anti drone, (aside from launching rounds skyward) is that especially the anti personnel drones are small, and impossible to see until it’s almost too late. You may be able to hear them from about 100-200 yards out, but where exactly are they?
Add a directional microphone?
This is (was) fake a few years ago when it was originally posted…. Israel proved that a device that small can certainly pack the firepower to kill with their pager attack!
As for the real drones being deployed in similar actions, they’re currently a little bigger, and are being flown by an operator…
But still consider that thing may be coming at you at 30+ mph from any direction on a kamikaze mission!
Scary stuff.
Damn, where is the link to the retail outlet. I know there has to be one somewhere. Those are cool.
From Smart Shooter’s website this scope is not limited to air, it’s for any target that moves that you mark as your target. It does not do the shooting for you, but it let’s you know when you have the perfect shot and predicts the movement of your target. Battery life is 72 hours which makes it something everyone is going to want.
That is scary stuff. Anything our Army can get is usually being copied by a foreign enemy or we are trying to catch up. And the price of those things compared to soldiers, meals, med care, uniforms, supplies, weapons, and transportation will be pennies against $1K. It is a little sobering sometimes to think about what your life is worth to someone/something that wants you dead.
These are being made by an Israeli outfit so everyone will have one. As cool as it is, it will have limited use on the battle field because the whole benefit is predicting movement of targets that rapidly change direction. Which are drones, normal things in motion don’t change direction on the fly, so you won’t see a benefit for humans, fowl or animals. However depending on how good the AI is, it could be beneficial in areas of coverage where it can predict an object leaving coverage. Example a deer that runs through foliage, if it can show me where and when the deer will exit, I will gladly throw all my money at them.
They can change direction quickly but they normally fly fairly straight to their target until they can see it and then change once sighted. I was thinking more of the tiny drones which run completely on AI and have a small explosive. You could drop a plane load over any city or Army base and take out multiple 10’s of thousands of people at one time. It will be a scary world if that works.
These are scopes on small arms and require the person holding the small arms to select the target. The stuff you are worried about already exists, however it would require a seriously messed up Government to implement because it’s using AI to target any moving person without consideration if they are an enemy combatant or not. Could Iran, China, North Korea, or Russia implement a drone like that, absolutely. The problem would be they would hit civilians intentionally and that would have the rest of the world on them.
I’m waiting for heat seeking boolits
Hitting civilians hasn’t stopped them so far. You have to remember that our culture and theirs is a lot different. I would take bets that any one of them could care less whether they kill civilians or not. If they want to go to war their idea is to take out anything that moves. The only thing they might be willing to save is our infrastructure. Which is a good reason for using the small 2" drones. Take out anything that moves in huge numbers. Imagine what damage 50 million of those little 2" drones and a decent number of cargo planes could do just taking out people on a holiday weekend, military or civilian. All they would do is ask the rest of the world, which one of you wants to be next.
actually in one group killing civilians is fine… helps for what they get in paradise…
so don’t think you or I or anyone else will be exempt!!!
I agree, once it starts there would be some protests but sooner or later everyone will do the same. Most will do anything to survive.
