For you guys that like to reach way out there. Check this rifle out. I Want One.
Our taxes working for Ukraine ?
Impressive.
"Horizon’s Lord rifle is a single-shot sniper weapon that is capable of firing up to eight rounds per minute. As announced by the manufacturer, the rifle weighs approximately 34.17 lbs, the barrel length is 41.34 inches, and with the stock extended, the overall length of the weapon is 71.65 inches. "
That’s what drones and artillery are for.
what is the caliber of the round?
Looks like a modified 50 cal.
I’m quite sure the cartridge is far less expensive than either of those.
the manufacturer created not only a new rifle, but also developed new .50 caliber cartridges (12.7 x 114HL) by modifying a 14.5 x 114mm shell. [T]he manufacturer established the desired attribute of flat trajectories, in addition to enhanced range, the ability to maintain energy during flight, and decreased vulnerability to wind. The muzzle velocity after a shot is fired is 3,280 feet per second.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. No matter what optics I use, and I’ve used many, at my age, Get out there much past 200 yards and things start to get really really hard to see.
You need my scope.
Vortex 6-24x50
Oh Sure, Now I have to go ask R if I can get one, then buy the ammo. I Think my 270 will reach that far but to be honest I’ve never gone over 300 yds with it.
I’m using .224 Valkyrie. Shoots flat. Best I got out to was 800yrds, my mother hit 1100yds. Never under estimate your seniors.
2700 yrds? In a war zone? Nope, not unless I tape the bullet to a truck and run the guy over!
Shows how effective snipers can still be on the battlefield.
I don’t get why the U.S. military seems to be cutting back on many of its sniper programs? Drones are nice but most aren’t cheap and can be jammed or shot down. It’s not economically sustainable to keep using million dollar missiles and 1/4 billion dollar planes to take out a couple of soldiers or an old pickup truck. Especially when in many cases a couple of bullets can get the done for a lot less money than I have in my nearly empty wallet.
Drones are easy targets for electronic warfare and anti-aircraft guns. Bullets are not.
Artillery is far more vulnerable to enemy detection and counter strike, than a sniper. Cost of a 155mm rounds is a bit higher than a .50.
I mean, God bless the Ukies. We may be spending a ton of money on them that we don’t have, but those guys are true brothers in arms defending their country, and making the best weapons they can out of anything they can get their hands on. I’m happy to have the Ukies on our team. They’ll sink a Russian capitol ship with a drone dinghy made of fiberglass, TNT, and a remote contol, and take out the enemy from a couple miles away with nothing but a rifle.
I guess we’ll know about brotherhood when we are forced to protect Taiwan from the Chinese.
Yeah, that’s a tough call. I’ve been very close with a couple Ukies over the years. The true Ukranians have a thousand year history of resisting the Russians, and absoluty hate how Russia has raped Ukraine over the years, especially in the last hundred or so. Yes, there is some shared territory in Eastern Ukraine and Crimea has changed hands over the years, but Ukraine proper definitely does not identify with anything Russian and wants no part of Russia. In my opinion, based on my relationships with the Ukrainian people I’ve known well, we should be supporting them fully. They’re western, freedom loving people that would support us if we needed them.
As for Taiwan, well, that’s always been part of China. It sucks for them that they’re free and the CCP wants them in the fold. It sucks for us that we’ve become dependent on them for semiconductors. They’re not an ally like Japan. I’m not onto the idea of a war with China over a little island.
Just my ill-informed opinions and nothing more.
Agreed. But after all the tough talk, would we look scared and weak if we didn’t resist China?
We shouldn’t have talked tough if we didn’t mean it. Now, thanks the the fearless Big Guy, we’re backed into a corner.
F#kin Big Guy.
Roger that sir! I totally agree. I am all-in for Ukraine . We will regret it if we let Russia win this one.
I don’t have a lot of support from the Community on this subject.
