“If the bad guy would have obeyed the anti-gun laws of Illinois, there would have been no shooting”
How rude of the bad guy to ignore “common sense gun control laws”
Lol
Maybe they just forgot to teach him in school that it was a gun free zone…
Well there is more coming from our all knowing legislators from Illinois;
HB-5170 – . Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that an applicant for a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card or for renewal of that Card must submit to the Illinois State Police that he or she has proof of liability insurance coverage of at least $1,000,000 for accidental injuries caused by a firearm. Provides that the Illinois State Police may require annual proof of the person’s liability insurance coverage and may suspend a person’s Firearm Owner’s Identification Card for failure to maintain that coverage or for failure to provide the Illinois State Police with proof of that coverage. Provides that the proof of liability insurance coverage required under these provisions is required for both an initial application for a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card and for renewal of that Card.
Yet, a criminal in illegal possession and use of a firearm, not having a FOID card, will not be in violation due to their 5th amendment rights under the 2005 SCOTUS ruling.
Will they also require all people to have liability insurance for injuries caused by … fires… from matches, smoking, or B-B-Qs that cause fire… or injury… or how about those who walk in front of a vehicle making it swerve and causing injury… or … for anyone who leaves their home and does anything that might cause an injury…
It may not work out so great for the individual owner, but I bet the insurers will make more than a little off of it…!!!
I just don’t see how requiring insurance, FOID cards and all is not a direct violation of the 2A… I know there is a lot more to it, but it seems like a slam dunk in the SCOTUS.
Nothing is a slam dunk at SCOTUS. They’re as political as anyone in the Swamp.
On the bright side, there is a bill to repeal FOID but it hasn’t gone very far:
