Man fatally shot by a federal officer in Minnesota

Should I look that up on Social Media? Or the real media?

How about in the MN State Statutes?

They’re not hard to find.

@Bruce71 was right in 1 and 3.

Regarding 2 → Yes, as of January 2026, it is legal for individuals with a valid Minnesota permit to carry to possess firearms at public protests or rallies.

However it becomes legal only if you have your permit to carry (and a valid photo ID) on your person at all times while carrying a firearm in public in Minnesota.

I don’t know your intentions, but you have tried to make every criminal a hero at this Community.
And yes.. I said criminals, because the moment people like Pretti interact violently with Federal Agents, they become criminals.

18 U.S.C. § 118 makes it a federal crime to knowingly and willfully obstruct, resist, or interfere with a federal law enforcement agent performing authorized protective functions. Violations, which apply to agents protecting officials under 22 U.S.C. 2709 or 4802, can result in fines, imprisonment for up to one year, or both.

Not beating up on you @Bruce71 but your 2nd point is wrong and that is what is causing some concern among pro 2A organizations. Now there is a caveat which is you have to have your id and a CCW permit on you. But you can take a firearm to a Political event.

My God already. Simply why can’t you just have a rational decision on this matter? Should Petti have done what he did? NO. Does it matter that he had a lawful weapon NO. Should ICE have murdered him? NO.
He is dead. Did he exhibit any justification to elevate the situation to murder? NO.
You can wrestle with the manusha all day if you wish. It really is inconsequential given the outcome.
The only question you should ask yourself is, did he deserve to DIE?

P.S., Look in the mirror and ask yourself, am I a hypocrite for being okay, or at the very least complacent, with his murder? Then making up why it was justified this time. Then exhibiting outrage for Ashli Babbitt’s murder by cops?
This was meant as a comparison and a wake-up call to get your head on straight.

You keep dreamin’. One try, perhaps. two tries, suspect. Three tries…last chance. then let society forget them and move forward without wasting resources.

this is the leftie trap. Keep spending and you’ll get there.

I stand corrected on my item #2. My understanding came from a discussion with my uncle, a retired St. Paul PD Sgt.

I mostly agree with you,but take exception to your characterization of Pretti’s death as murder.

He was killed, yes.

If charges are filed, a jury will decide if it was murder.

It might be a smart to not bring a firearm to rallies and pretests… but it is not against the Law.
Your uncle may think correctly - why bring the firearm to high-risk event, but if it’s legal… you can do so.

For details, please refer to Minnesota Statutes, which describes where you cannot carry your firearm:

243.55 CONTRABAND ARTICLES; EXCEPTIONS; PENALTY.
609.66 DANGEROUS WEAPONS.
624.714 CARRYING OF WEAPONS WITHOUT PERMIT; PENALTIES.
641.165 CONTRABAND ARTICLES FORBIDDEN; PENALTY.

There is nothing there that prohibits licensed gun owners from carrying a loaded firearm to a protest or rally.
The only problem is when you carry it without valid permit / ID available at the moment.

And when they choose to interfere?

What? That he adds no value to any of the posts. He has nothing even remotely intelligent to contribute.

I am not sure any charges will be forthcoming.
