YES… and this starts within 25 - 30 feet away. With multiple attackers or bystanders presence - sights are needed. I’m not risking innocent people’s lives.
They’ve just added different colored front sights. I have the green. Looks like a tennis ball my eyes are drawn to it. If you can sample the different colors, I highly recommend it. I just used objects from around the house and put them in front of different back drops to see how my eyes liked it. If you’re going to do this just find objects in similar size and shape
I don’t see why pointing a green dot on target would be a bad thing though.
I practice both at the range. I practice getting a round on target as fast as possible, but I also practice the Precision part too:I think they a are complimentary. I also think there are scenarios where a site picture is good.
That being said I also think your statement is true. I don’t think carrying has to be as complicated as we make it sometime. It really is point shoot with firearm safety being the most important knowledge to have.
I’m putting these on my radar. At the very least I’ll get sites that let me practice a lot of one handed drills.
The big portion of good defensive shooting is a balance between speed and precision. Whoever has taken defensive shooting classes knows it.
So point shooting YES…and sight shooting also YES.
We cannot rely on ONE method only. We cannot say we may act in self-defense in 3 feet distance, so I don’t care about sights. Or I will never allow assailant to be closer than 20 feet, because I’ve got cool sights… Nope.
We have to be prepared for both situations.
In my case - good sights, so I can shoot accurately from 30 feet and then I don’t care about sights in short distance.
You won’t be disappointed.
My first carry pistol has had all possible sight configurations - 3DOT, then BLACK rear with WHITE front, then BLACK rear with TRITIUM front, then FLUORESCENT 2 DOT ADJUSTABLE rear with TRITIUM front… and finally TFX, which are AWESOME.
I’d kiss the person who recommended them here…but I cannot find that thread…
Let us put this another way. OOP’s I am in trouble now what do I do first. Chamber a round, then I take the safety off, now I can find my sights and shoot the perp if he has not already shot me. I think that might be clear enough. The key is practice practice and then PRACTICE some more.
Xs big dot dxt2. Yellow
@Scoutbob I have used NightFision, Truglo, Ameriglos, and the Hi Viz sights on my M&P PC shield from the factory. I like them all and they have reviews of these products on YouTube if you are interested also.
They are different colors for better target acquisition. That’s why I enjoy shooting my PC M&P because of the Hi Viz sights. Red rears and Green front.
Brother @Jerzees you are getting Colder and Bolder.
The majority of them I say more than 5 years up to 10 years and to me that’s pretty good. Which are the ones that a lot of people are mentioning on the thread.
A slight tangent here on the subject matter.
I have a S&W M&P 9 mm 2.0 Shield. The sights are not aligned well and it consistently shoots to the left (9 o’clock) by about 6 to 8 inches at 30 feet. Others have tried shooting it and have the same opinion. I’m dead on at 30 feet when I shoot with my Beretta 92.
Anyone else have this problem?
Yes, I could get out the punch and try adjusting them myself. But I really don’t know how long that takes with iterations and adjustment back and forth to the range.
BTW, a YouTube video on the issue…
As I still have the TRUGLO and Trijicon AND my G3C arrived back from Taurus today Fedex (didn’t even need a Sig?)
Here is my comparison review. Just pictures so y’all can decide👍
All three pictures have the Trijicon on the left
The bottom picture shows them in interior light. This is where my eyes do not acquire the rear sights, so placing the front sight evenly between is impossible.
Still going to look into the Big dots though👍
Aren’t they adjusted by a screw inside the slide?
The rear sight has a screw but, at least according to the video below, still requires a fair amount of work with a punch. The front sight has no screw, just wedged in there. I’ve never done this before (well, with rifles, not pistols) so I’m not sure how iterative or tricky the process is. Time to try it and learn, I guess.
I loosened the screw and they moved very easily. The trick was making them stay in the middle while I tightened it up. Hopefully it won’t be too tight for you to move.
Ok tried to put the front trijicon on, no good😡 The oval tab that locks it to the slide is about 0.005" too deep so the set screw will not hold it tight. Comparing the Taurus original it is about twice as deep. Oh well, maybe the front truglo will come in use after all.LOL
Big Tru Glo fan but pretty much any fiber/tritium combo sight that looks good to you.
