I put a console safe from Lock’er Down in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. It took a little time to install. It’s great to just put in the console and know it’s secure.
I looked at console locks & was unable to find one for my 2014 Camry. I have one in my Super duty but I drive the Camry modt of the time to save on gas. I just got the basic cable lock box that I simply run cable through the passenger seat mount. Its easier for me to pull the box out from under the rear of the passenger side & lock it. I just keep my IWB holster on me. It’s not illegal to carry a holster. Lol. Ya, it can be cut with cable cutters but it’s a damn sight better than just putting it under ■■■■ in the center console
I agree the Hornady Alpha Elite is a better and more flexible option than a console safe.
Not sure it’s better, but more flexible for sure. Anchored safes are more secure.
I’m not comfortable leaving my gun in anything not bolted down when I’m not in direct control of it.
Despite my console vault, I still worry about my gun in my truck every day at work. They could just steal the whole damned thing!
All you need to defeat an under seat cable tethered vault as a pair of these…
Then just take it wherever you want and use anything else to get into it!
At least with the console vault bolted to the floorboards,… they have to take part of the truck too!
Most of the options for “built in” type console safes are for trucks. Not an option for me.
Yeah, and not even all trucks ![]()
Which leaves tethered under seat vaults, or getting creative with mounting something.
A lock box is pretty much legal requirement here in CA, , and using one might keep you out of trouble if you have to report your pistol getting ripped off if you can’t keep it on your person ( assuming you have a CCW.)
I have a little Liberty lock box in the trunk if I have to go somewhere Roscoe is verboten.
IMHO it’s pretty much useless as far as security goes, only satisfying a gruesome Newsom legal requirement.
Fas-1 builds a much more secure vault that can be bolted in situ.
Locker down and console vault have them for a lot of SUVs and cars. You should check them out.
I went with a console safe that bolts in under the armrest—super easy install and keeps things out of sight. I needed something that allowed fast access but still had solid lockup.
I did a ton of research before deciding to buy gun safes from Liberty since they had good options that actually fit my vehicle without modifying it. So far, it’s worked great for day-to-day use.
Interesting choice. Do you have photos or a link to the specific model?
Did the screen printer run out of ink?

I have a CPL in my residence state … and installed a Console Vault in my 2014 F-150 Lariat; very pleased with its design, durability and operation. Recently upgraded to their 4-digit ELITE Lock; great improvement over the previous 4-teensy-weensy digit lock with the pull-tab.
However, the back / rearward plate of the Console Vault blocked the LED light inside the back wall of my console. I didn’t want to cut a hole in that backplate, so I bought a rechargeable LED ‘puck light’ and affixed it to the inside of the console vault backplate with Velcro. The puck light has an On-Off-Auto slide switch, and senses hand movement in Auto. I also affixed some clear Red cellophane over the LED lens so as not to ruin my night vision when accessing the vault in the dark.
I think I seen where Locker Down went out of business. I have one with the electronic keypad and love it.
