Let's see your new gun!

@Zee - The rifle itself is cool enough, but that kind of personal history makes it something special. I am pretty sure that I am the first American owner of this rifle, as I purchased it from a dealer in Switzerland and had it imported.

@Nathan Dude - that Seriously Rocks.

@Zee - If you or anyone you know ever buys an old Swiss military bolt action rifle, make sure to check behind the butt plate for a troop tag. They don’t always still have them (a lot can happen in 100 or so years), but it is always worth a look. That’s my Collector Tip of the Day lol.

I have a schmidt rubin 7.5x55mm  it’s not original and no troupe tag… it’s been sporterized. it’s beautifully done, but had already been modified before I got it. needs a recoil pad though… that stinkin’ butt plate HURTS.

@Zee - It is most likely a K31 that you have. I’m not surprised that the troop tag is long gone, considering it was sporterized. Rudolf Schmidt designed the original Swiss straight-pull rifle system, and Eduard Rubin designed the 7.5 × 55 round. Also, did you know that the Swiss 7.5 × 55 round helped to inspire the design of our own 30-03 and 30-06 Springfield rounds?

@Nathan - ok, had my hubby go get it out of the safe and look up the SN for me  Modell 1889 Infantry Rifle, production year 1892. All matching SNs except the magazine. still has the original 1500 meter sights on it. I’m not very accurate with it because OUCH but my hubby can do 2" groups at 500 meters.

did not know that about the 30-03 and 30-06
looking forward to seeing what you can do with yours!

@Zee - Someone sporterized an 1889?? That’s odd to me. It is the weakest of the Swiss straight-pull actions, and it is also not rated to fire the “modern” 7.5 × 55 Swiss round. It is supposed to fire the 7.5 × 53.5 round, essentially a shortened and LIGHTLY loaded 7.5 × 55.

@Phil-G45 that makes me think of Goldilocks… “Once upon a time there were Three Glocks, a papa Glock, a mama Glock, and a baby Glock…” ok, maybe I’ve got the name of it wrong. Was it GoldiGlocks?

Hey Adam, I have the S&W M&P Shield 40. I have had it now for a little over a month and I love it. I just purchased a Viridian Reactor 5 light I am fixing to put on it soon. The only thing that is different with mine is it doesn’t have the thumb safety. So I am a betwixt between two, do I keep a round chambered or not. For now it is not chambered. I really love the gun though. Fun to shoot, something about it…it puts a smile on your face
