Legal or not?

Continuing the discussion from The Aftermath: Two Masked Intruders, One Armed Homeowner:

Help answer this question please. I keep getting notifications on getting my CCW online certificate, my previous one has expired, the ADS claim I can get this by answering their few questions and I can get this and I can carry in any state with the reciprocity law that was signed into effect but I must hurry before something expires. I don’t know if this is a legitimate site that I keep getting notifications for or must I go through the state that I live in which is Arizona to obtain a LEGAL CCW that is good for any state. I did hesitate and canceled after my bank card was declined by my bank!! Saved by the bank I guess. Thing is these ADS were with our VP of the USA supposedly telling us all about it. LEGITIMATE OR NOT???

They can create very convincing information to commit fraud these days.

My first rule of thumb is if I receive information in a text, email or website I have not requested, I generally ignore it, ESPECIALLY if there is a TIME CONSTRAINT like “ACT NOW”, “HURRY BEFORE THIS EXPIRES”, “SUPPLIES ARE LIMITED”, or it shows a clock counting down. If it looks like it’s from a government source, I will investigate authenticity before responding.

You did well to question it.

Time to block those emails. 29 states are constitutional carry, 21 states have various degrees of reciprocity or no reciprocity.

RED FLAG!!

They create a sense of urgency, act now before supplies run out.

Your issuing authority should be the only one sending you notifications.

There is no such thing. Here in Illinois (in the beautiful state of Chicago), we don’t recognize anybody else’s rights. Heck, we barely recognize our own.

Yes, unless you are a certified LEO, there is no magic 50 state CCW permit. It is a scam if you are told that they can issue one.

I worry you’d been illegally carrying concealed because your CCW permit wasn’t legit. If you could post a photo without personal info, we can clearly determine that.

Within your first four words describing it - I knew they were fake and trying to rob you.

The IT people at work tell us just never open any email you do not know who it’s from, block and delete em.

“Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me”.

Instead, log on to you state’s official website, in search tab within that page, type “apply for conceal carry”, look for a phone number you can call to verify, the site should allow you to create your own password, the very last page before your ap is done, will ask you to make payment.

Post here , message me, or PMM, “your state”, and I can post for you - your state’s link.

I live in Washington State, and I see those posts too. The fact that it is not through the state is the main red flag. It would be like paying a guy outside the concert for a ticket and trying to go to the concert to find out you have been had except with the permit you go to jail.
