Living in Illinois State

I have a good question. Since I have a license for Illinois CCL how do I obtain other licenses in other states? What do I have to go through? What is the process? I also travel to Wisconsin to fill up gas and go shopping in lake Geneva any suggestions would be great, I have My Hunter safety certificate as well I am also thinking about getting a lock box to store my things since I travel to Chicago

go to handgunlaw.us to see which other states recognize your IL license; you do not need another one in them. Be sure to check the full state page for each state you travel in; you must follow all of their laws, such as where you cannot carry, mandatory notification of law enforcement if stopped, and whether a no guns sign carries weight of law.

This map shows which states recognize your license.
To get access to more states, obtain an Utah out-of-state license.

@Craig_AR explained this pretty well. What I can add is (based on my personal experience):

  • you do not need anything special driving to Wisconsin. This state fully honors your IL CCW permit.

  • applying for Florida Non-Resident Concealed Weapon Permit gives you the best coverage over the Country and I found the process to be fast and easy. (Online application + mailing your fingerprint’s card from IL State Police + any prove of Firearm Training)

This is the map of States that honor your IL CCW Permit:

This is the map of States that honor your IL CCW Permit + Non-Resident Florida CCW Permit

The good thing is that being Illinoisan you have engraved a lot of restrictions that help you understand Gun Laws and carry your firearm in “yellow” States.

From Illinois and have non-resident Utah.

Have not acted on Florida non-resident though many recommend it!

Thank You so much :+1: I will try to fill out the paperwork online but I still need my fingerprints done :white_check_mark:

There is an App available for your phone (IOS) for “USCCA reciprocity”. Could be android too but I don’t speak android! Search the App store!

Good for you.

IL is fortunate in that its CCL permit has a fairly wide acceptance, if your’e an IL resident.

From my checking, WI honors your IL CCL.

I like the FL CCL permit; It adds on some eastern reciprocity.

Some folks add on either AZ, or UT.

Due to my planned travels and concern some of the laws might change, I went ahead and got IL, FL, AZ, UT.

I also appreciated the extra education and training I had to go through. Some of ranges offer these approvals, some even with all four or three into one course, including finger printing, and photograph.

I think IL needs to have reciprocity with the states that allow IL CCL. Do they not trust other states?

Maybe I am the only one, but isn’t it odd that all of the red states are a bunch of losers? OK, a few… like IL, are losers too.

@Tom206 ,
What super State you are living in?

I thought the same.
Living in the Peoples Republic of Illinois, I would site the safe-t act, FOID cards, and taxes, among many other issues, as to why deep blue states, like the PRI, are worse.

Huh? How do you define loser?

Geez, sorry. I was just suggesting that if you look at states with out of control crime, masses of invited illegals, have onerous… or are trying to pass… anti 2A laws, and are just not fun to live in, they tend to be in the red states. I too live in a state that once was solid blue, but is best described being purple, with all of the aforementioned problems in the biggest city which is located in the county I reside.

Enjoy your life in non loser State.
I’d ask one more time? What State are you living in?
