Left Handed Pistols

I went shopping yesterday for a Hellcat Pro Comp OSP 9mm pistol. I kept my options open and was also n the fence about a S&W M&P and a SIG P365. I wound up still getting the Hellcat Pro Comp, but was disappointed to find out that while you can switch the mag release to lefty, you can’t with the slide release on any of them unless they already come that way. Anyone else a lefty and have this issue?

You must find the pistol that works for your hands.
The options are:

  1. look for fully ambidextrous handgun (reversible mag release, both sided slide stop)
  2. look for handgun with reversible mag release and big enough single sided slide stop and learn how to operate slide stop with your left hand
  3. look for any handgun you like and learn how to operate mag release and slide stop with your left hand

I came through all 3 steps and ended up with 1911/2011 platform that belongs to category “3 - any handgun” :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah I really tried a bunch and I’m telling you that Hellcat Pro was a perfect little fella with the slide release on the wrong side. Had to bring him home with me anyway!! Can’t wait to get him to the range next week. Oh did I mention the 17 rd mag??

That’s, I’m guessing, the best for you. Handgun must fit your hand. Then you learn how to overcome all handgun’s imperfections and enjoy it.

If there’s something wrong, you will find it pretty soon…

My biggest problem with polymer handguns was tiny slide stop, almost non operational for me.

Before your next buy, see if your dealers can access GRAND POWER pistols - I believe that ALL of them feature fully ambidextrous controls. If you’ve watched any of Graham Baates’ videos, he absolutely DOTES on them. Anyway, these are a viable, alternative choice. FYI

P. S. - Most of them have grip-panels to adjust your fit, also - SMITH M & Ps have this feature, with a choice of 4 grip panels, as does BERETTA - in a no-tools setup. FYI

I’m pretty sure Federal makes some good left handed ammunition as well, so make sure to pick up some of that.

@Tesha Welcome to the community! Although I am not a lefty, my Sig P320 Full Size does have the dual slide release feature, and the mag release is reversible, and on my Sig P365 the manual thumb safety is on both sides, but only left side slide release.
