Laser (pointer) Sighting

I keep getting email ads for the MCG Predator Tactical Laser Sight. It’s actually a “pointer” that fastens to the rail, for me, on a turn-of-the-century Glock 17. Haven’t been able to find an “objective” evaluation of it. Does anyone use one of these and what do you think of it?
Many thanks.

I have been seeing the same ads pop up recently. The only review I have found is one submitted to YouTube by USA Self Defense Centers with an AI voice over. Typically, if I find a review with an AI voice, I keep scrolling. I would rather have a living breathing human doing the review.

The laser looks to be a cheaply made product with questionable reliability. You could theoretically put one on your weapon and it could function reliably until YOU are no longer able to function reliably. Or you could put it on your weapon and it fails the first time you try to test it. It is a crap shoot.

Many of these ads are scam. They offer a product for free as a closeout to make way for new product coming in, just pay shipping. You fill out the form, pay the shipping and your credit card info gets stolen. Again, it’s a crap shoot. My recommendation is to not trust the ad, even though the laser might be good. If it looks like a trap and smells like a trap, it’s probably a trap.
Either go to your local gun store and look to see what is available over the counter or ask folks at your local gun range what lasers they have and why.

Lasers are pretty useful on your SD weapons. They offer extremely quick target acquisition and if you get into a position where you are needing to shoot off handed and focus with your weak eye, you can just follow your laser instead of sighting with your iron sights.

Agree, sounds like clickbait scam

After many years of experience (some mikitary cimbat and civikian self defence situations), and practice with handguns; using lasers, red dots, different sights. My personal choice is to simply learn to point and shoot. The reality is there’s not going to be ready, go bell of any kknd. Using All thise optics and sights are great fun for target shooting and training aids. Self defense situations at 15 yds. Or less, doesn’t require one in.shot groups. That milli-second to use sights detracts ftom speed and perception of the situation. Most of us just don’t have the time to devote to attaining the level of professional match shooter.

Put me down as a “nope” for pistol mounted lasers in general let alone whatever this, predator, is

I have these on 2 nightstand handguns. Been on them for many years. Always function and hold zero.
