Kentucky Shooter

I’m looking to talk with shooters from Kentucky. I’m concerned about a grass roots Second Amendment group in our state, more specifically the lack of an active one. I’ve looked all over the internet and cannot find one. Looking to talk to anyone who knows anything about this, or wants to know.

I would contact our ISRA and ask them for addresses and names of your state rifle association. www.isra.org and they can help you. You realize that there’s parts of Illinois that are further south than parts of Kentucky. I’m sure they can fix you right up.

Talk to the NRA, there are many state organizations such as the TSRA here in Texas modeled after the NRA and putting something similar together in KY would likely be very doable.

I am a shooter in KY, and I don’t know if any statewide 2A advocacy organization. Lots of local or regional hunter/gun/sportsman clubs, but nothing specifically 2A oriented.

I agree with @David38. I know there are regional groups in Kentucky but not any statewide.

I would get with Michael and David, join your Regional group or groups sooner than later they are going to grow and you are going to see a Statewide organization.

Thanks Robert8. I will give them a try.

Thanks WildRose. However, the NRA is out, right now anyway. I do not want their issues to infect a project I am thinking of getting off the ground. I do hope that they figure it out because I want to rejoin.

I have found the Kentucky State Rifle & Pistol Association. It is on their charter to lobby for protection of the Second Amendment. The problem is that most people have not heard of it and the web page (www.kysrpa.org) was last update in 2015. I think its time to get an active association in Kentucky that will be active in protecting our Second Amendment rights. I saw recently that Moms was at the State capital trying to fight the constitutional carry law. Trying to get background information now. I will keep this updated. My next step is to contact the KYSRPA. Thanks.

Mike,

See my reply to David38. I will update this post as I get more information.

I am afraid we are way behind the power curve.

Robert,

I think that we need a statewide advocacy group. Regional groups are great but they lack coordination. The currently named Kentucky State Rifle & Pistol Association is not doing anything while Moms and Bloomberg money are active in the state. I am looking to start such a group. I think that now is the time (maybe past) before the big bad gun lobby is at the door.

                                                                               Bill

Press on Bill, I know there’s people who own guns in Kentucky, I was in the Army with lot of them over my 18 years. Plus you have a lot of Hunters there and Ducks Unlimited clubs :duck: :duck: :duck: as potential members. Every State got their roots somewhere Sir

Well Bill that’s why you’re doing well is because there’s nobody there to hit back. Not that anybody’s going to be here but there’s nobody that will step up to Bloomberg’s pool not that anybody’s going to be here but there’s nobody that will step up to Bloomberg’s Idiots.

I’m guessing that folks are passive about it because everyone just knows its Guntucky and assumes things are safe as they are. But that’s how you get beaten… complacency.

Getting the word out that all is not well is going to matter. Once you have a message sorted out, you may want to reach out to ranges and gun stores state-wide.

Complacency. That’s my biggest fear. I’m still doing some background on the defunct Kentucky Rifle and Pistol Association. Then I’m going to do as you suggest, get the message dotted and out. Thanks, Zee. Stay tuned for updates!

I have emailed Mark Walters, the Second Amendment Foundation, and the Kentucky State Rifle & Pistol Association. Waiting for answers. NRA-ILA has several gun stores as Second Amendment Action Centers. First, the NRA is having problems and I want no part of them. Next, gun stores are not 2A action centers. I went through their web sites and found nothing about supporting the 2A only buying stuff from them. The NRA continues to disappoint. I’m still on it, still working on it. I’ll update again when I have something.
