Reminds me of that rap song, “I like big guns and I cannot lie”. LOL Okay, okay, I know that isn’t the lyrics to that song:rofl:

I agree with most of what’s been said but this is my opinion on larger frame guns versus small frames. And today’s world with the Wonder micros capacity is not such a huge issue. Like I said earlier I carry a hellcat with 12 on board and a 15 round spare mag. I could carry 16 on board and another 15 round spare mag just a little harder to conceal so I don’t. The real differences come down to concealability, comfort, and shoot ability.

I grew up on 1911s. You going to find it hard pressed to find a better trigger pull. They are almost inherently more accurate than most shooters ability. All larger frame handguns if all things are equal are going to be easier to shoot. The longer sight radius, The recoil management, and the way they feel in the hand, are the biggest reasons in my opinion.

Smaller firearms have a shorter side radius obviously. Some do not fill out the hand well. You must work harder to handle and control recoil. But with some effort and practice these things are manageable and worth the trade off in my opinion for the comfort and concealability. As far as firepower if we’re talking just the caliber s potential to get the job done, modern 9mm ammunition has come a long way, and in my opinion again, with the correct selection of self-defense ammo is more than capable.

All this said I love my 1911’s and the 45 ACP! It’s like the poet said, you’ll never forget that first love of your life!

Gotta love CAs roster that only allows decades old designs which in some cases are less safe than the new models.

I have an old Gen 3 G19 that still serves me well as my home defense pistol. I keep thinking a Gen5 or a shadow systems would be nice but I shoot the old pistol pretty well. Can’t really justify spending on a new pistol for a possible slight improvement in performance.

“Better” is generally defined by Quality, Reliability, Features and THEN finally but ultimately, the hand that holds the gun. Size is almost immaterial except as a convenience to some, mostly dependent on specifics like body type and willingness to compromise on comfort and other highly subjective personal points like aesthetics. Period…

For the purpose of a CCW, what you can carry and conceal is going to be much better (well, useful anyway) than what you’ll leave at home for sundry reasons.

A better way to look at it might be “best suited to purpose”.

I carry full size pistols simply because I prefer them. There’s a thousand reasons to carry one size and not the other, just as there’s reasons different people carry different brands. In the end @Enzo_T is correct IMO in that the only reason that is consistent in any given set of person/firearm is personal preference. Speed, ease of concealment, how shootable, etc can all be shown to the contrary on either side of the size argument.

I tell all my students, FIRST train and figure out what you want to carry. THEN figure out HOW you’re going to carry it.

Folks wrap their heads TOO TIGHT around ONE mode of carry all the time. I couldn’t care less. Even though probably 90% of the time I’ll carry AIWB in a Kydex holster, there are times when you’ll find me with a full size Glock 17 and two spare mags in a waist pack or my P365 in my back pocket or Mexican carry with a simple trigger guard shield on it. But you’ll never find me without a gun…

I train to be proficient with all modes and I practice, practice, practice my draw…

How often the regular posters here actually carry would be an interesting thread.

You could start that Topic yourself. :slightly_smiling_face:

That camera angle does not do her any favors. Looks like a snake neck.

Every day, even when I change rooms. If you had my phone number, you could ask for a function check and I guarantee I could rack the slide within a couple of seconds.

Everyday. Work, church, park, mall, Taco Bell.

I carry one of my two compacts I carry both at 6+1 and a spare 6 mag. I like the little guys, lighter, easier to conceal and more comfortable.

There is a neck in that picture? :sunglasses:

I love that Hellcat! I haven’t purchased one yet but I’ve admired it since it first came out. First response from others was “Ehhh, ya gotta be careful with those Remington models…they can have alot of problems.”
Ummm…ever hear of a GREAT COMEBACK IN THE INDUSTRY?? That would be the Hellcat, especially since they’ve added so many options! I want mine fully loaded!
