I took my eye off the ball

I’m a WI resident with licenses here, MN, UT & FL. My MN renewal crept up on me. Thought I had another 6 months based on my poor recollection of when I went there. MN has a training component that requires live fire.

Does anyone know of a live fire pistol course that will satisfy the fairly minimal requirements for MN renewal? I’m in south central WI but need to get this done by either my actual renewal date of 11/6, or certainly within the 12/6 deadline including the 30 day grace period.

Thanks in advance.

I can recommend two places…
Shade’s Landing (I took my renewal here most recently)

The Modern Sportsman (I’m a member here)

Best wishes!

Thanks Glen for the prompt reply. And very happy to see a new poster!

As I’m closer to the Illinois border I’m looking for something a little more south. Appreciate your input!

@Glen16 Welcome to the community!

Mission 94 is a new indoor range in Kenosha just off I94. Haven’t been there yet but they do support the USCCA with trainers and classes. May want to give them a check. https://mission94firearms.com/
Also Paladin Protection Academy (USCCA) in Kenosha https://www.paladinprotectionacademy.com/

I have MN permit in addition to WI and FL. WI resident. How soon before expiration does one need to renew the training and application for a MN permit?

Answered above.

Merz Firearms in Rio, WI offers training by certified MN instructors including range firing. I believe you and I are required to take both the class and firing range to renew our permits.

Also, check out Advanced Defensive Strategies in the Madison area.

Permit is not before 90 days of expiration, but a 30 day grace period after.

Training is a year out. Not clear if it has to be done before or after, but I’m betting on the former.

Thanks for the head’s up on Merz John. Spoke to Richard today and will be taking the class next week. All the recommendations were great, so thanks to all who chimed in.

Next up is a day trip to Winona Co.

Glad to be of service. BTW, that is where I drive to make my MN application

Got my initial license there as word of mouth was it’s one of the more ‘frictionless’ counties for non-residents. The same sheriff is still in office, so I’m guessing that still holds true.
