I say I like lighter/smaller stuff... but what I tend to bring with me says otherwise

Course the sunglasses are on the light side, only because my preferred Titanium Oakley X-Metal X-Squared Carbon with Maritime Prizm lenses somehow went “missing”.

So only thing here that’s a lightweight counterpart are my Oakley Flak 2.0XL (which I keep in a case that holds the glasses with prizm low light, and two slots for the prizm trail torch, and prizm deep water polarized), and the Oakley Holbrook XL with Prizm Tungsten Polarized.

The other stuff :

  • Garmin Epix Gen 2 Pro 51mm which has the red shift mode but also a built in flashlight and red light on the front of it (not that crappy screen glow type of light)
  • 1960s Parker 45 Flighter (stainless steel cap and barrel) with a 14K gold Accountant (extra extra fine) nib
  • That USCCA branded pen with the carbide tip, that I’m just throwing in my bag for times where I can’t practically use a fountain pen (my preferred writing instrument).
  • Coast TP9R 3-mode LED, 1000 lumen, have it set at ultra wide flood by default, USB-C rechargeable battery (or get a few 18650 batteries spare that’s been charged)
  • Couple of my Firehouse Arc V strobe lights with a velcro backing that I primarily use on my drone, but they make very bright portable lights to have in a tiny pocket, and can attach to a molle patch, I have one that’s white only, and two that are multicolor (white, red, blue, green, with different strobing mode each, or solid on).
  • Cobratec CTK-1 OTF (Out the Front) knife with a 3.75” Tanto blade, kind of a cheap alternative to microtech knives. With the lower tolerance they’re less likely to jam up compared to microtech if you don’t keep them completely clean environment (like somehow a lint free pocket).
  • And Lastly, my Beretta 96G Brigadier Elite from my dad. I like it, but I’m already thinking ahead for a smaller-ish but not compact alternative for carry when I get my CPL. The Glock 44 or the Sig P365X was a good fit in my hand when I tried them out (the P365 non-X annoyed me because my pinky had no where to go).

Spare mag/mags?

Got two spares yes, wasn’t gonna clutter the pic :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: If I’m going to the DNR Range that day, I’ll just preload 6 in each mag (range rules, can’t have more than 6 rounds at a time… AND… you can’t fire more than once in a 3 second interval, basically can’t do those 3 shot practice drills).

Is this an indoor range?

No, the DNR ranges are outdoors.

They also don’t allow human shaped paper targets. “no human-form silhouettes or metal targets. Paper targets with a bullseye pattern or a depiction of legal game may be used.”

That is one thing I do not miss.

Out here, on the BLM, you can shoot at any target you want(except tannerite)no magazine round limits.

Yea, the group gets together at the DNR ranges because it’s free for everyone, and it’s mostly to get some of the newer folks acclimated to either handguns or rifles and learn about the safety with them in an environment that feels welcoming to them. Usually a little lunch afterwards.

The guy who organizes it shares the same sentiment about round count and the frequency since his favorite little gun is a Keltec P17, holds 17 rounds, and has others that can do 20+ he’d love to be able to just do 3 shot intervals and what not without having to reload every 6 shot.
