I color filled the etchings on my pistol

There are many youtube videos about color filling the etchings on a pistol. I did my Max9 today. I like it!

THANKS, just found my new hobby!
How will our solvents and oils affect the nail polish?
Other than that can’t wait to get my hands on some colored nail polish, not something I thought I would ever hear myself say!

I’m thinking a nice alien lime green!

And electric blue.

The nail polish will stay put. I really don’t bear down to hard on the external part of the slide anyways. I tested it after it dried with regular Hoppes & some CLP. No worries. Clean the hell out of the etching with alcohol first beore applying paint/nail polish
Ya, those Kimbers will look great with a bit of color fill, for sure

Finally, a worthwhile application for nail polish!

Nail polish on my 1911’s front sight looks like it found permanent residence. Typical gun cleaning solvents and oils don’t affect it.

I’ve been using Sally Hansen Extreme Wear nail polish and this one holds up very well.

The funny part is… I use black color to get rid of white marks and stamps on my pistols…

I just got the cheapest nail polish in the store & I’ve used orange nail polish on front sights with no solvents removing any if it. BTW, good idea on the black polish for nicks!

I saw a photo of someone’s HK USP Expert online, and did what they had done to mine. It really popped!2024-07-29T06:00:00Z

Was that yours or someone else’s? There’s a rumor floating in the interwebs that your serial number is being recorded if you shared a photo.

Thanks for the heads up: the gun was purchased through an FFL in 2012, and the gov. already knows about it.

Molon Labe…:us_outlying_islands:

Yeah, that’s what I thought too.

By the way, I like the way it turned out with the red accent.

Thanks! I think it really makes it pop. I have owned over fifty firearms, and this is the one I settled on.
Not a fan of 9mm for its stopping power, but with 13 .45 ACP +Ps in my hand, and a green laser that can handle any hostage precision shot that might be necessary, my rod comforts me…

Stopping the threat instantly is my goal, not capacity, not a small easily concealed mouse gun. I have trained myself and others to instantly prevent a bad guy from being able to respond in any way.

Thanks for reaching out to me. I appreciate it.

I would always cover the seria l number on any firearm photo posted as a safety measure.

What a terrific tip! Way back when - in the 1970’s - I bought a kit containing a “gold” filling that used a sealing agent for longevity.

Once finished, my Ruger Mark I looked great. Unfortunately, after a few years of tortuous service, the gilding eventually wore off.

I’m going to give this a go and hope it fills that elusive void in my otherwise dull existence.

Thanks!

That Ruger logo would be really cool in red. :slightly_smiling_face:
Now I’ve got the itch to do some of mine.

I did my 92A1 a long time ago. I used a bottle of the Wife’s off brand nail polish she never used called “Jamaica Me Crazy”. Now here I am all these years later, the polish is coming off the grips and I cannot find that particular color anywhere.

Edited for spelling.
