Husband & Wife range rats

You are lucky. Most wives just tolerate their husbands gun hobby. I did the same thing as you and thought that the fact that I taught gun safety and concealed carry would help but she is still afraid of guns even tho she owns a couple. Treat her nice.

Great story, when i first meet my wife she knew i had A gun, she also owned a 22 mag rifle. Never really thought much about it for long time. We ended up moving to different state and I decided I wanted to go hunting, took care of all neccessary paper work etc. Then asked want to go too? Didnt fill tag but we had good time. All of sudden we realized that sport shooting was what we wanted to do. Embaressed to say she is better shot with handguns than i am. Fast forward a few years, now we have a gun safe full of firearms, we both have ccw permits, sport shooting is out right now she is having back issues and cant travel. I just became a USCCA member and i am enjoying reading all the good things about folks and the shooting sports along with the training for concealed carry.

I have been looking for years for something we can do together. When we lived in California we would go to the range occasionally together, but it was such a hassle. Now that we live in a FREE state, she has really embraced guns and shooting. We now go out shooting as often as possible. I hope all pro 2A couples can enjoy the fun and partnership you guys and we have.

Buds in Lexington used to have a couples only night. I don’t see it on their Calendar of events anymore.

funny story
Take the wife to the range and all is good. She gets to handle my 3 9mm, 1 32 and 1 .357 revolver. She did best and liked the full size Ruger 9.
Guy in the next lane has a 10mm hand cannon that is hurting my ears thru the muffs. With the wife in shooting position, arms extended and a V neck Tee shirt with some cleavage, a 10mm shell casing fly’s over the lane and lands right where every guy wants to be, leaving a crescent burn mark.
We have been back, just not on days when the lanes are full.

My wife wears a sweater or hoodie that she can close all the way to her neck to avoid that kind of discomfort. We’re both always careful to dress in pretty protective clothes going to the range.

I introduced my wife to hunting/shooting. I can say that it was cheaper buying her jewelry than it is supplying her with guns and ammo. Our household motto is, "if we can’t remember how many guns we have, with out going down and actually counting them. We have room for one more

My wife is great in a lot of things but, what’s the right word, technically or mechanically challenged?

Thanks to this thread, it made me think of a solution. I think I’ll buy her a point and shoot wheelgun.

Love it!

I’ve been trying to get my wife to go with me sometime! The range I go to actually has a couples night that includes dinner at a local restaurant. We’ve got a 1.5 year old so that makes it a bit hard for us both to go but I know once she finally gets out she’s gonna be hooked!
