I strongly believe in states’ rights and local control—each state should have the ability to determine who may carry a concealed weapon within its jurisdiction. No state should be forced to accept the policies of another state, which may vary widely from its own. As a former governor, states’ rights are important to me, and I find a national concealed carry reciprocity policy to be a clear violation of this important constitutional principle. Therefore, I cannot support it.

I would say something to the effect of I could understand if you wanted to give us more rights than the constitution. The constitution is what holds this great country together. Our freedom to protect our selves and our loved ones accentuates America’s uniqueness.
I would say that yes, items not specified in the constitution are indeed at the state’s purview. However, the constitution DOES address weapons (arms) and in fact states that citizens right to said arms shall not be infringed.
I would say I agree with you on Constitutional rights and principle that is why I am asking you to defend the 2 right to bare arms . The states that don’t want it are violating the constitution it says our rights shall not be infringed.
Nothing to do with reciprocity and other states. 2A is the only Amendment that specifically guarantees a right to a specific item, firearms. It’s not now nor was it ever intended to be up to states to interpret how it was to be enforced; it’s a guaranteed right, since part of the bill of “rights”. Your response clearly violates your oath to uphold the Constitution. Your response that this is states rights provides me with all the information I need to determine you are ignorant of your Constitution, your oath, and the fact you’re an arrogant, uneducated and unqualified public servant who should resign immediately.

Each state validates an individuals request for a permit through the FBI and other multi state records to ensure that they are not criminals. This is a national search. Any state rejecting these facts is doing it for political agendas. If you pass the national validation you should be permitted to carry nationally!
Don’t bother responding. He won’t care. And he probably doesn’t even see these messages anyway. They have ‘staff’ to shield them from those annoying constituents, you know.
I too am a strong supporter of States rights - however, in this case I (obviously) disagree. I do think that each State should be responsible for issuing concealed carry permits for their residents, and I think that those permits should then be valid across all States; however, to do that I also think that there should be a common standard that is used to ensure that all permits are issued off of the same criteria.
Maybe the Honorable Senator should sub concealed carry with Driver’s License in his response - or maybe more appropriately a CDL license, and then see if his thought process makes sense.
I would ask him if he feels the same way about drivers licenses and why recognizing other state’s driver licenses is not an infringement of state rights. He’s just an anti-gun clown.

Senator, My wife and I are both Concealed Carry certified in our home state .were in your state for a work assignment for a year and Must say we enjoyed our stay. However, with the opinions you spout, We believe you need to re-study the Constitution with Special emphasis on the 2nd Amendment. I would tell the senator to read the Second Amendment. It is our constitutional right to keep and bear arms in all states and can not be restricted from doing so in any state.
And it doesn’t even guarantee the Right, it protects that Right from infringement so even the “you still have the Right, it’s just infringed on by blah blah blah” nope, no-go, the Right of The People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed
