Growing up, there was a lesson that my best friends father would repeat often and he would usually get serious when he said it…
There’s three things you don’t go and do unless you wanna maybe end up dead 1) mess with a man’s home
2) mess with a man’s family
3) mess with a man’s job You can get away with most other things, usually.
The lesson had two contexts… if your gonna be a man you need to protect these things and don’t you go be a dumb ass and screw around with these things of someone elses, unless your ready for what’s coming.
The food supply will be the biggest problem. Stores have no more than 3 days of stock. The urban areas would be a disaster within a week (if everyone had the suggested 72 hour food supply) as political differences quickly changed to the next meal. I have heard many say that they would go to the mountains and live off the land. Were thousands of people to do that the “land” would be empty in days. Shelter and winter would finish them all off.
It is also a stumbling around and trying to ignore or destroy the rule of law.
The rule of law is difficult to establish, … the Greeks tried and failed… the Romans had it under their republic, and lost it under the Caesars…
We have a legal process, and it does not include the media choosing the President, nor the people actually, it is the Electoral College, and before they meet, there are legal recourse and processes to be followed.
We are in fact working against our own Rule of Law… and it is terrible what we are doing to the nation… or what one side primarily is doing to the nation.
0% Survival rate as American Citizens (as we know it). Saying it another way, our country will vanish. Cheat the election system. Pack the courts. Raise taxes. Confiscate firearms. Open the borders. Empty the jails. Defund the police. Promote burning, looting and general mayhem. Flood the streets with illegal drugs. Promote communism in our schools. See where we are heading?
This is the part that worries me most. It is very clear that violence towards anyone who supports the President is pandered too and encouraged.
Its equivalent to teasing a dog on a leash everything is fine so long as that leash holds. FYI I believe that today’s leash is the Constitution and Bill of Rights and alot of people feel that the way this election has been proceeding, our voice and vote are being taken away. It is a recipe ripe for violence. Where I live I’m not concerned about mass level of violence my families survivability is gonna be better then average.
I don’t support violence, but I do support the libertarian idea that society can encourage acceptable behavior and discourage unacceptable behavior through access or denial to social opportunity. So, if you are preaching radical ideas, that can and should have a social cost before it gets out of hand… The worst radical forces (left or right) the world has ever known, started with a small movement of people preaching radical ideas. Society has a way of discouraging that… So, yeah… you could get fired and lose your chance to work with the society that you are preaching against… That’s an organic consequence, and I think the world would be better off if we had more of those and less bureaucracy.
That said, the same is true of the extreme left. They get called out by society and denied opportunities to work with the society they are preaching against. As they should IMO.
It seems that there is a belief that they are justified, and can use intimidation, coercion, threats, force and violence, to silence any voices they disagree with… up to and including threats and violence against family members… children…
and destroying a person’s career, business, reputation and name (and your name and reputation are virtually all we ever truly have, and once damaged, is most difficult to recover)…
The definition of Terrorism : the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.
Phil Robertson was attacked, because of his religious beliefs
Brandan Eich was pressured and forced to resign from Mozilla due to political support he had given 8 years prior to the attack on him…
That is NOT acceptable.
And those who claim it is, and try to justify it are displaying views and values of Terrorism and Totalitarianism…
and we all must prepare for safety, be more situationally aware, and unfortunately, always keep an eye towards others with distrust. (That was a manner of survival in some foreign, third world nations I went to… and to think it has devolved in the US to this point.)
If there is a Joe Biden Presidency watch the media go from hostile to President Trump to hospitable with the Great Uniter Joe Biden. Such hard hitting questions that will be asked in a Biden administration: “Dear Glorious Leader President of the Free World Biden, What is your favorite Ice Cream Flavor? and Oh Great Magnificent One tell us again about your time with the divine one Lord Obama and What do you like to eat first Oatmeal or the Jell-O? and most importantly When is it nap time?”
This is the same type of people that have for four years, maybe more, been calling President Trump and those who voted for him Nazis, and horrible slurs toward the First Lady and his family. The hypocrisy knows no bounds. Granted this hypocrisy is from both sides and does nothing for the betterment of the country.
For the record I wasnt trying to twist this thread into a left vs right discussion. I was simply responding to a comment.
2 things tho, 1.) Why is called a civil war. There is nothing civil about war
2.) A current civil war wouldn’t be left vs right. Itll be just like our first civil war. It’ll be against family members, neighbors, and friends. It’ll put a tear in this country that will take generations to repair. The rebuilding will be just as difficult to survive as an actual war.
Great insight Craig. I agree, if services shut down that is going to be the tipping point. I think the toughest part of a civil war would be how to determine who the bad guy is… We don’t have a line drawn acrossed our country like we did back in the first civil war. This isn’t the north vs. the south. It’s divided communities…in the same town… and that’s why I think it will never happen…because once people see what that looks like…what they have to do… they will probably figure “Obama Care” or “the Wall” aren’t worth killing their family and friends… Additionally, in the absence of police presence, the subject of how to fund the police will lose a lot of it’s power…
I will echo your point… if things break down, and the enemy is at my door…they will leave… and I think enough people with that mentality exist to form a 3rd combatant in the war…which is the group that decides that the things that connect us are more important than the things that divide us.
