How many rounds are enough?

I keep trying different tuckable IWB setups and haven’t found anything that doesn’t scream GUN. If I keep my jacket on it’s good, but it gets too hot to stay in a jacket all day. I’m glad you found something that works.

I don’t want to sound like I’m advertising, but the Constantine Carry Belt was a game changer for finding a workable solution.

The way I use it I can even do a, I believe someone called it, seated bathroom engagement, without moving anything related to my carry.

Agreed, sometimes stupid just finds you. That’s where the efficient and effective part applies. Make your rounds count.

It goes to show you that it is all about shot placement and not necessarily the number of rounds you throw at them.
How many rounds should you carry? 7 round nags? One in the gun and four on the side.

Very true (…until it’s not). Lots of good thoughts and strategies vis a vis mag capacity and shooting drills. But, as Mike Tyson said it so well: “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” It is impossible to plan for every contingency. Sometimes the best engagement strategy may be to know when to “get the hell out of Dodge.”

IWB can be a pain, especially if you dont have the dad bod to help.

I just use a trigger guard holster from gunners. Simple, very small and comfortable. Of course i carry either a G43 or a shield 9 so size of gun isnt too big of a deal.

Got one for me sig m17 also but its too big to carry without a coat

I have had a different experience with IWB holsters.

I’m so skinny that I could hide behind a WiFi signal. Carrying OWB is equivalent to a piece of straw with an all-in-one printer strapped to it.

With IWB, my belt and the moclaw help to conceal it far more effectively.

Shot placement? Yes. Caliber? not so much.

I have a friend who was shot while driving into her trailer park in Temple. The shooter was using a .45 ACP pistol with a double stacked magazine. I don’t know which one. He put 11 rounds in her Jeep and 3 in her on the left side of her torso, 1 in her left arm. All through and through. She returned fire with her 9mm and dropped him in two shots. She made the call to 911 and drove herself to the hospital.

You mean you’re not going to pop the trunk grab the vest and the AR-15 and stop the threat :red_question_mark: :man_facepalming:

Sitting in my living room I feel fairly confident in my ability to hit center mass, unless they flank left and right, than my load out. Because of my current load out I’ll probably unload the first eight hitting 3 then take cover at the engine, reload, and anyone still moving in my direction, unload again. I do still have the option of the gasoline and a zippo.

Now that I think about it in the comfort of my home, gasoline first and hope my lead bullets spark off the asphalt, lighting all offenders on fire, duck under the car start shooting at the feet, roll out from under only to find flashing red and blue lights, lasers and all guns trained on me, isn’t that how it works the movies? :man_facepalming:

On how many levels is some lawyer going to consider that leaving the scene of a shooting?

Shot placement and proper ammunition are key.

My EDC is a Glock 43X, using factory magazines I have 10+1 in the weapon & a spare 10 round magazine. I support the shot placement idea and the sniper “one shot - one kill” motto. However in a real life adrenaline fight extra rounds are good, but practice, practice, and practice again is in order.

I think the number of rounds you carry for your edc will be fine, you actually practice meaning you are going to put your bullets center of target and not just be doing spray and pray. Furthermore the chances of the bad guy you are dealing with wearing any kind of body armor is probably nill. I have been going between my .357 and my .38 special as my EDC with the .38 just getting more carry time, weight, comfort, my accuracy all come into play and to be perfectly honest if I run into a situation where a .38 is not going to do the job, I probably made a lot of mistakes to be there.

I carry the spare mag mostly so I can drop a mag in the event of a malfunction.

Practice that all the time.

I’d rather be able to drop, clear, replace, rack, than have to worry about holding my 1 mag during all of that.
