The time difference between making a tactical mag change and a forced (out of ammo) change could be the difference between life and death.

I don’t count “rounds” at the range, I count Boxes. I usually take 4-6 boxes with me and typically empty all of the boxes. Now EDC Self defense rounds, I always know what’s on my body and I have a pretty good idea of how many I have in the container.

When I am doing a drill that requires a mag change I usually count and know when I have to be behind cover. I do this before I start. I also practice without counting so I can expect the unexpected. Some drills require taking as many shot as it takes to knock down before moving on to another target.

Great Job Robert 1246 you understand that if we have to know how much fuel we need to get to .A to .Z !! Then with your .LIFE ON THE LINE TRAIN LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT . Count. Brother stop some where in your vehicle and count train cars and check your dash cam and see if you have the same count. Sir . START ADDING UP YOUR GROCERIES WHEN THEY RING THEM UP ON ADD THEM AS YOU PUT THEM IN YOUR SHOPPING CART. And add 8.5 percent tax and check the total amount when you pay you may just be over paying brother . Count your miles . STAR COUNTING EVERY THING. Brother and it will be come second nature . Know how many rounds you have in your edc under pressure brother . I hear I train like I am in the last fight of my life !! And then every one says 1234 8. 10. 14. 18. 22 27 . Out. WTF. Brother . Real life . And you can recall what happened after a fire fight. And say I am willing to cooperate. I want an attorney present. Because . We do lose . Our train of thought . And we never want to give two different statements. KAZ then the prosecutor will . Eat you alive . Sir just stay sharp brother. And after a self defense always ask for an ambulance and medical treatment to buy time . To get with your attorney. And say nothing till you have time to calm down . I have seen brokers think they firer five times and they fired 10. And when you are fighting for your life you are in the zone . And still in it . Till ya can . Find out what the responders . Have . Your brass. Love

Mike 164 you know that the bad guys have more rights than we do because we dare to defend ourselves against them and they walk right out of the police station and you are still there counting rounds like its a game we must be better at this than the criminals . I can’t understand why not one wants to know how many rounds they are firing . You want to know how much fuel you have in your tank . And your edc . Never mind that you can be in prison . Because the prosecution is not playing fair . You have to out monster the monster .!!! Never answer questions about anything other than which way the bad guys went and what they look like . And always say . I think . Tell them you are upset and need your attorney because this is not normal for you and you are still afraid . Make sure you keep saying that you were in DANGER OF . It’s critical to develop the habit of knowing how many rounds you have fired or an approximate number at least. For example, You fire 14 with a 15 round magazine, the round that didn’t go off jammed or didn’t go off. Ejecting a hang fire is not a good thing. I have gotten very myopic at times looking at the sights only. Other habits are important too, 1/2 way though a magazine the rapport sound different, if you had a squib load the next shot that goes off may be catastrophic. When everything works well, a mag swap is only a couple seconds away.

In the context of self defense, including training for self defense, I’m ejecting a hangfire all day every day. Not that I will know that’s what I am doing, or that it is likely to happen as those are extremely uncommon especially with factory loaded centerfire…click when I expect a bang = Immediate remedial action aka phase I clearance, tap rack reasses

I agree with that 100%. At the range best to avoid injury, or ejecting a round into the stall/range next to you.

At the range, I count the number of boxes I’ve been through. I also make note of that later on just for my own maintenance records, and so that if/when the time comes for me to trade or sell a firearm, I can tell someone how many rounds have been down the pipe. It may matter more to some than to others.
