Why is it a good idea to know how many rounds are in your edc at all times

I don’t believe that is a viable thing for concealed carry/self defense.
I think, personally, it is a bad idea to think that you know how many are in there…way too many people have not accurately counted or remembered how many rounds they fired in a life or death situation.
People also commonly seem to think they know how many, but they are wrong. This is one part of why you wait for your attorney before answering questions and going into details like that

Nathan 57 MOSTLY LAW ENFORCEMENT WOULD KNOW THAT ANSWER BECAUSE AFTER A SHOOTING THEY GIVE THEM 72. Hours to figure out what they seen and how they seen it before talking to iad . Or making a report . For court . GRATE ANSWER WHEN YOU HAVE JUST HAD A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION. You CAN HARDLY THINK STRAIGHT SIR LOVE BOBBY JEAN SIR

On a regular basis, I do practice round counts. It’s part of my regimen. Maybe I watch too much television, but one of the first few questions from the first on scene is how many rounds did you fire?
It’s also been in a few of the USCCA videos with Colion Noir!
So, yes I practice round counting and use only anatomic targets. Even Zombie targets are anatomically correct. Kidneys, eyes, heart, fingers all seem to be in the right place!
There are no red “X’s” on the human body! Just my opinion and it’s how I’ve practiced for the past couple of decades.
I would have to go back to my notes, but if I’m correct, this was at 7.5 yards, 32 rounds, strong hand only, 4 mag changes, a dozen controlled pairs, with the challenge of not hitting the hostage. If the hostage was hit, we go home! Game over for that day!
I count rounds in action movies! First John Wick movie, 275.
The fun part about counting rounds in movies, is more times than not, there are more muzzle flashes than rounds in the gun. Even more surprising is more rounds fired than the gun could ever carry. Older movies 25 rounds from an 8 round magazine.

Absolutely, will only answer basic questions as per the USCCA card.
That’s the bad guy, there’s his weapon ( not pictured ), my wife is the witness, the other two attackers fled the scene, heading north, I need medical attention and an ambulance and will call my attorney!
Of course by this time my firearm is secured in my holster, provided the threat has been stopped! I hope I still know that I fired 2 rounds or 12 rounds! Goes to state of mind! If I fired 12 rounds there will be a magazine on the ground! Just sayin’.
And I always know how many rounds are in my EDC! One in the chamber, 6 in the magazine and 14 rounds in the 2 extra mags I carry on my hip. If you want I know the lot numbers and manufacturers production date I have that as well. Yeah, I know, a little anal!

I don’t count and the answer to how many rounds I fired is, “No clue, I fired my gun until my assailant decided he didn’t want to be a threat to me any longer.”

This is a great response. You need to give yourself time to process what has just happened. That is why you only give a statement after you speak to your attorney.

With the cost of ammunition skyrocketing, I’m going to need to know replacement cost! LOL 
This is why shot placement is a priority! Two to the chest one to the head 3 rounds @ .43 a round, that’s $1.29 what used to be the cost of a dozen eggs!

Me personally, i carry a Sig P220 .45 as my cary weapon. That is 7 and one. I do count those, but do get lax when it comes to something like an AR-15.

I’ve got no idea, 22 rounds & an extra mag for house firearm, 13 & extra mag for edc. if I’m out of ammo I’m a terrible shot but it know how much ammo.

I’m on board with @Nathan57. Relying on shot count in an intense emotional situation seems to be asking for a terrible outcome. I mean one “Click” without a “BOOM” could cost you your life.

Mike 164 you count your rounds if you’re edc ever runs out and you’re being looked at by the bad guys !!! They just seem your edc lock out !! And they will kill you. In a FIRE FIGHT !! After you have fired say over ten rounds !! If you lost count drop your mag . And slap in another . And take cover !! You have to be ahead of the enemy . 24/7/365/ ANTICIPATE THE THE .
