The group of people you interact with are an anomaly
It’s not unusual for people to seek out and live near and make friends with and interact with people similar to them, but this does not make a representative example.
Most people with a license to carry don’t carry daily and most daily carriers only carry one gun.
I still have yet to find any examples anywhere in the US, for decades, of a regular concealed carrier using a backup gun in self defense, anyway. I have only been able to find one (thanks to ASP) spare magazine used during that time.
As an almost universal guarantee, the one gun and the ammo it contains are what is used to end the threat, or not, for concealed.
So my takeaway: Make the one gun and what’s in it, something you can rely on. Chances are TIME is going to be the limiting factor long before an additional gun or mag

Grate job the kid . Sir some members don’t think any carries more than just one Edc that was so wrong. So many people i know carries Three EDCs . I carry Three . Two 375 Revolvers an my S&W m&p.9 . I Don’t . Think that’s too much . With my four Blades . I’m comfortable with my ability to Defend my self . Better have them an not need them an need them an not have them . Some thing Like that . No clear statistics, just a couple decades of experience being all-in on the concealed carry and 2A community.
We have a lot of reports, detailed reports, and often surveillance or these days phone videos, of self defense incidents. Like, we have a lot of ‘DGU’ defense gun use, data, where we know what gun(s) was used.
We have yet to know of a single modern day USA example where a concealed carrier used a backup gun.
If you aren’t already I suggest following the YouTube channel Active Self Protection for a tremendous number of real life self defense situations caught on camera and discussed in depth.
They happen fast, very often even if a person had a BUG (most don’t), it wouldn’t factor in
Make sure your one gun or you primary gun is up to the task, because it’s virtually guaranteed to be the one.
Gun guys tend to go heavily into guns, but there are a number of super valuable tools one may carry. Once a good firearm is present, make sure to be covering medical/tourniquet and non lethal like pepper spray, before a second or third gun. IMO/IME YMMV if you want to carry three guns have at it

Nathan 57 thanks for your for your advice . I have been in a situation where had i not had a Backup edc i Would not be Here to. Listen to what you never had the misfortune. To understand a second edc can an will save your Life as it Did Mine . I would not be here today had I not had a backup EDC. To Listen to you Miss Lead this community. A lot of the cops and private security guys I know carry 2, can’t say I have heard of any of them needing/using them but they absolutely train to should they need to go to number 2…

Sorry to hear you had to use your backup carry gun. Definitely an unusual situation, but at least you were prepared. First I’ve heard of one being needed, first time for everything I suppose

A lot of cops carry 3 pairs of handcuffs too, I’m not sure how relevant what cops whose job it is to chase down and capture bad guys are to what we should carry though

Michieul Brother Sir if i didnt have a Back up edc i would be dead . That verry kool Little 4.10 45, is a great Back up !! Most Under cover Law enforcement carries a 22 Bob cat automatic . Ankle holster edc. They Did 30 years ago Brettata Bobcat . A very mean Little piece of hardware !! Very concealable and Deadly as hell Thanks for the kind words Love Bobby Jean and Debbie ann sir
