My tracking information indicates the state of SC received my CWP renewal application on Jan. 26, 2024. I have not, as yet, received my permit. Does anyone know how long it normally takes?

I got mine in 59 days. That’s one day before the State Law says they have to either issue it or inform you why they won’t.

I sent mine in for KY back in DEC/JAN time frame and haven’t heard anything yet. Guess I’ll have to call the sheriff to see if it came in.
@Kevin496 Welcome to the community! Hopefully, you’re permit will be renewed soon. Just too bad we have to put up with conceal permits as part of permission to exercise our right to carry, while felony criminals who illegally possess firearms carry freely, no permits required, freely running all around the country, no reciprocity, committing crimes, while law abiding citizens are faced with restrictions. Hopefully if Trump wins, he can change that!

Just called SLED and according to them, the current average wait time is over 120 Days! I am just trying to renew my CWP and not a new applicant. This delay prevents carrying out of state. I’m aware of the validity of SC being a constitutional carry state. However, this is a reoccurring problem over several years, the huge delays. These delays have not been addressed and have gotten progressively worse. When it comes time to vote remember this. Further, President Trump has indicated his willingness to sign the “Reciprocity Act,” allowing a person with a CWP to carry in “other states.” Not having a CWP prevents utilizing this, if enacted. You may also want to know no notification that you CWP is expiring was received so mark your calendars 6 months out. CWP’s are valid for 5 years but the delays are shorting that time period.

I just received my CWP renewal. It took exactly 120 days from the date SLED received my renewal paperwork.
