I decompress at the gym. Physical activity seems to help with stress. I can tell a big difference when I don’t get the workout in. End of last week had some bumps in the schedule which kept me away. I can tell the difference.
When my kids were little and would get grumpy, I’d take them for a walk and tell them we weren’t coming home until they fixed their attitudes. It always worked. Of course, I also threatened to leave them on someone else’s front porch. Now they go to the gym with me and my wife.
Just got back.
45 minutes: Held pads for a fighter getting ready for a fight
30 minutes: Heavy bag kicks/knees/teeps
15 minutes: Jab Cross Hook/High Low High
30 minutes: Weights
No Pressure here.
She told me I needed a bigger safe so I can get more guns. She also said that I should get a gun room for all my stuff.
She is a keeper!
She even got me a 50 cal for my birthday!
When kids became old enough to go to amusement parks on their own, it allowed my wife and me to enjoy the benefits of physical and emotional benefits of hiking.
Usually the wife picks me up out of the sink, soaks me down with water until I’m flexible and then scrubs the pots and pans with me.voila my weekly bath.
There is something soothing about putting a fine edge on a knife, and disassembling, and reassembling a firearm.
Also just about anything in my workshop (woodworking, and leather crafting), helps decompress my brain.
Another thing is playing one of my stringed instruments (guitar, ukelele, or violin).
Actually just about everything I do these days would help decompress.
Sounds like what I do to my Kat! A quick rinse through the dishwasher and Walaa! Klean Kitty again! She just has to learn how to hang on to the rack better because sometimes I hear 'Thump, Thump, Thump! and then it settles down… Sarc Alert!
I would like to get into that outfit.
Although at my age, I wouldn’t be able to do anything.
And a harp is down the list, first a banjo, mandalin, and cello
It’s all about decompressing brother.
I use to be able to make my ‘Strat’ sing
Now trying to play ‘Melissa’ or ‘Unforgiven’
My hands just want to make me cry sometimes.
Getting old(er) sometimes sucks
But I can still shoot (200) rounds no sweat, so I have that going for me! I dub thee Unforgiven !
My fingers are tightening up, I used to be able to sit and play my guitar for hours. Now if I can squeak out 15 minutes I feel lucky. But I refuse to stop. I think playing keeps some movement in my fingers. The uke is easier, so I revert to that sometimes. Violin is hard, But I can play “Three Blind Mice”
Another way I decompress, or de-stess, is building Legos with my Grandson. It also helps keep the fingers nimble.
TRUTH Brother, I’ve started to revert to Rhythm Guitar a lot lately.
The JOY and FUN is still there.(Thank GOD!)
What’s that old saying? The mind is willing but the body isn’t able?
I can still grind out some decent solo’s but it’s hard now being…uh…solo.
When my friends were together it was great to rock the house .
But age and PTS has taken it’s toll; on my Brothers
and when the Kat goes under the bed I’ve played enough for one day
Ditto, I would practice and now after ten minutes I have to put her back on the rack. Right when I felt like I was really getting somewhere too. I had Amarillo by Morning mostly down and working on a cpl more. Now most of my time is gardening.
Maybe you and your Grandson can make a little extra side money rebuilding that Baltimore Bridge
they could use a little help these days…You’re gonna need a Bigger LEGO! Ship Happens!
TEXAS BOUND in (3) DAY’S! Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww! Peddle to da metal Jaguar style! HUZZAR!
