Glow in the Dark Sights - I swear I didn't do it

Woke up this morning and noticed this…

so I took a closer look and saw this…

I swear to God I have NEVER dropped Kimberly so I have no idea what did that damage. It had to have happened in the last week or so since we did low light training the the last time at the range.
Oh well, nothing $72.94 at the Kimber store won’t won’t take care of.

The fact of life is that SIGHTS take a beating.
Even super careful, and EDC especially sights will get dinged.
I have a spring loaded steel front security door that has a mind
of it’s own, (6+) trips in and out every shopping trip run
stuff gets hit. Holsters get scratched/chipped, Sights get screwed.
(couple that with the ‘New Tech’ Glow sights also fade/die eventually.
They tell you that in the brochures (‘Eventually you’ll need refresher…
replacement tubes’?) You have a nice little ding left side
prolly knocked out that tube.
I’m not a Gunsmith but when I ordered my ‘XS’ sights, I ordered two sets (JIC)

Oh brother!!! Good luck removing that rear sight. I swear Kimber peens and epoxies them in that slot! I’ve broken professional level tools trying to remove one of their rear sight

Maybe all you need is a ‘Pepper ball Luncher?’ WHAT?

Wife lives in the garage now since the shoes and makeup cost more than my last gun purchase. :grinning:

Just a thought. I’ve been slowly replacing aging tritium sets with fiber optic fronts and filing the rear “dots” with either permanent sharpie or a dot of black nail polish. And in the process found out I’m faster with just a glowing dot in the front than aligning three dots. Many champion shooters and other pros are now running that configuration.

Might be worth some experimenting, you have nothing to lose.

A good reminder that, yes, even iron sights can and do fail in various ways

I had a front sight fail, came lose in its dovetail and slid way out of alignment on a VP9. I had another front sight fail, a Glock, let a gun store install it and they didn’t threadlock the front, it ended up coming off.

Rear sights on a lot of setups will be open to getting banged into doorways or such as they protrude above the waist. I could see it getting thwacked by something somewhere along the line (even multiple times) and maybe not realizing how much of an impact it was at the time.

So what do we suggest I use Loctite Red? or Blue?

I used the Red that came with my XS Big Dot sights.
I had one set go bad immediately and I had to send them in for a replacement, they came off but where holding on for dear life!
