“It is dangerous to ignore polls, but it’s equally dangerous to be guided by them.”
under $4.00 yesterday
$3.19 here for the cheapest unleaded. Diesel at $4.95. We have seen gas go down here in East-Central WI.???
Did the price go down from Trump gas prices? Or did it go down from Joe’s prices?
Joe’s prices, was $4.07 this past summer. Northern WI. and the U.P. IS $4.09 up to 4.14 we saw last week.
You’re thinking rationally. Not a concept Washington understands, or even cares about.
I’m a veteran. I’ve never used a single veterans benefit. Went to school on a full academic scholarship (twice) double bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology, a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Care, and to get my PhD in Forensic Accounting.
I had great credit, so I was able to get a better loan than I would have gotten. Either my wife and I had better insurance, so I’ve never stepped into the VA.
So other than pay and training, I’ve cost the Government $0. I actually think that’s wrong. I’ve been out of the military for 30+ years, I definitely have medical issues that were caused by my military service. But it’s been easier to handle it with my own insurance than to go and fight the VA for it.
The way that our country treats it’s veterans is BS. Especially our Vietnam veterans. Both parties pay lip service to wanting to take care of our veterans. But, the only President that I can recall trying to fix the many the many issues that plague the V.A. was Donald Trump.
I’ve said many times that Trump was a good, maybe great President. I don’t agree with the way his personality clashes happened. I really wished someone would have taken his phone away. But there was no doubt he cared for veterans. That’s why alot of veterans like him.
Rational, common sense approach to any problem is usually the best course of action. Sadly, as you say, our government doesn’t think or behave like that. We cannot as a society just say to all those responsible people that in some cases worked more than one job while attending school so they could pay back their loans that all the sacrifices they made didn’t matter. Let’s not forget the countless number of folks who for financial or family situation, didn’t even have the opportunity to attend college. Thus the reasons why you cannot just irresponsibly say let’s forgive all student debt. I really believe the simplest way to help all in debt students during these difficult times of high inflation and escalating costs in practically every aspect of our lives, that basically didn’t exist when most of the deep in debt students began their college education years, is to eliminate the ridiculous amount of interest being charged on so many of these loans, especially when payments are missed and penalties are added, thus adding years, not months to their payback period. Strangling so many that they often never recover from. Our government can solve this problem and at the same time not add to the already out of control debt. Simply remove ALL INTEREST from every student loan, they create a new payback amount per month and the student and or parent will easily be able to see just how long their debt will take to repay. Simple example: if you have an loan amount of let’s say $24,000 after all interest has been removed, you could elect to pay back $1,000 per month for 24 months or $500 per month for 48 months, etc. In doing this our government is basically just basically pre-paying the education YOU, the STUDENT desires, for a promise that you will repay that debt either beginning while you’re attending college, if you so desire, or beginning the repayment of your loan after no more than, let’s say two years after graduating college. Hopefully with a college education, and a genuine desire to work hard towards building your career, you will have attained gainful employment and be in a sound financial position to be able to make monthly payments towards repaying that INTEREST FREE LOAN. Think about this… how many people in years past prior to this inflation and the distribution problems like auto parts, etc. Waited until near year end when so many auto makers came out with their year end push to make way for the model year cars by offering ZERO PERCENT INTEREST for 60 months. People felt good and were comfortable in believing not only was this a great deal for them, but it was something they could now afford. No interest compounding turning a $20,000 car loan into paying back in some cases $25-$30,000! So many young folks getting sucked into stretching out their loans for 6, even 7 years so they could afford the monthly payments. Anyway I know most if not all of what I note will fall on deaf ears. But I hope that someday, our country can return to one where common sense prevailed over political gamesmanship. Where kindness prevailed over anger and hatred. Where we looked at each other as human beings and not political pawns. Where a difference of opinion helped us grow as individuals not immediately be cause for ending friendships. Where HONESTY and INTEGRITY MATTERED. Where good old fashioned PATRIOTISM was a great thing, something that UNITED US. In stead of all the nonsense, meaningless nonsense that divides us. All I can do is continue to hope and pray for these things… knowing how much better it would be for my children and grandchildren’s future if we could return to being more civil to each other, more kind, caring about each other and lending a helping hand whenever possible. Feels good just thinking about what could be…. I wish all who see this a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, Safe and Prosperous New Year. GOD BLESS EVERYONE.
Some of it has happened when Republicans had the majority in both House.
The issues are when everyone wants to start slathering on the pork.
Alot like what f##$&!? Mitch McConnell is going to allow in this effing lame duck session. With the Omnibus spending bill.
Gas seems to be priced pretty well right now. Diesel not as much
We’re like $2.70 or something like that now
Nice. We’re still about $1 above you, but I agree that it’s come down a lot since Summer. We were close to $6 at one point. I almost had to take out a loan to fill my tank!

Still not as bad as California, though. I nearly choked when I saw gas prices, there.
So I guess I’m supposed to thank my captors since they aren’t beating me so badly, now?
