I didn’t hit the club this week, so only driving was taking the wifes winter car, '01 Corolla to the bank, those Blizzaks sure are noisy but got me out the yard through the snow as easy as my 4x4 p/u.
No state tax on gas at the moment.
Funny, Barry, when I left TN last trip, my fill up in CT was the second cheapest of the trip @$3.05, pleasant surprise. That trip, Sept. between CT and TN had a low of $2.97 in TN, high of $3.85 in VA.
If you think inflation was bad in 2022, buckle up. 2023 could be a bumpy ride.

Hang on they’re probably going up even more. There have been numerous statements on the federal level about the price they willing to pay to replenish the reserves they sold off during the election cycle.
Wow. When and where Barry54? Any fishing spots near there please? ![]()
Those gas prices are gone, and now averaging around $3.49+ a gallon. ![]()
The post was December 22 so roughly one month ago. The gas station was in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Plenty of places to fish and hunt in Tennesse!
Reelfoot lake was formed by an earthquake. Great fishing there.
Thanks for mentioning that Barry54.
You reminded me of that very same week you posted, I was fishing in central Illinois and could not help but take a pic of the gas station pump price I saw which was $3.89 for premium unleaded. Yours was much better in price. But with lower prices, it motivates me to want to get out there for some more R&R.
Those are some nice looking rivers with great stories behind them. Especially the earthquake formed one. I can only imagine what it’s like to see it, and its history.
Last year, when I went to vote, in my state there was a referendum, asking if we’d be willing to pay a small higher tax fee to go towards upkeep of our rivers and lakes. It only came out to about $10 to $15 per tax payer/home owner, each year. Of course I voted yes.
Last year, I even found a spot which had both fishing and hunting allowed in the exact same lake area and same time. It was fun, having both gear at camp.
I get “choked up” when it comes to the beauty of our water ways, and how delicate they are.
Gas has gone up roughly 50 cents a gallon last week or so here in Georgia. Governor put back the taxes he had froze to help with inflation. It was supposed to raise prices around 29 cents… But it jumped up around 50 cents with no real explanation… of course. On a positive note, GEORGIA still has some of the lowest gas prices in the USA. Regular is around $3.20 today. Another real positive is from shopping at Kroger grocery stores. You get 10 cents a gallon for every $100 you spend. With inflation still extremely high, grocery shopping has gotten crazy expensive… Around the holidays when the tax freeze was still on, I had .50 cent credit per gallon and spent $2.26 per gallon. Of course even that savings can’t make up for the huge price difference on groceries today. I’m spending 2 to 3 times more for the same exact items. Don’t know who does the math in Washington saying things are up 8% or so. I wish that was the case… Double isn’t 8%. Stay safe everyone and have a great 2023.
Hopefully folks in CA know that they have stupid taxes and regulations causing most of that. The Iran thing isn’t helping but mostly it’s on them.
Governor Slick just wants chaos and martial law
