Looking for a stiff strong but not thick belt for everyday wear. Bought a Barsony basket weave leather belt but it’s thick and my IWB and clip on OWB holsters don’t feel secure, both holsters can take a 1"3/4 holster but the thickness might be the culprit. Doesn’t have to be Leather just as long as it isn’t flimsy. Any brand name or advice would be greatly appreciated. On a fixed income and fluffy, can’t afford retail search spending lol - ty
Kore essentials. Awesome belts. I have 3, a dress belt (slick leather), a more rugged tactical and a flexible. All of them are extremely comfortable and support my EDCs (compact shield .40, as well as my full size XDm .40).
Leather or man-made materials? I love my Ruger leather and Kore man-made belts.
Take a look at “First Tactical”. I use the same belt for IWB an OWB. Also use it for tactical rig. It’ a friction lock belt, so you don’t have to worry about not having the retention hole in the right place. Everything they make is top notch.
I have 2 (one brown, one black) leather belts from We The People. Reasonably priced and wear very well.
I have run through a LOT of belts in the decades I’ve been carrying and teaching. KORE is absolutely #1 and I have a few of them. The old ones tended to look a bit too “tactical” but their latest offerings go all the way from casual to dress very nicely. My oldest Kore belts are a few years and a few miles old and still look brand new. super easy to adjust perfectly and they stay put through any activities your day will call upon.
For a less expensive everyday option the 5.11 reversible Nylon Double Duty TDU Belt is REALLY hard to beat. And at $24 (on sale right now) it’s a bargain. I have two of them that I bought about 10 years ago and I still have not unwrapped the second one.
I’m using the 5.11 belt…no complaints holds my M&P Shield and my 9compact
Been wearing my crossbreed leather belt everyday for well over a year now, it has broken in nicely, is comfortable for casual wear, but still sturdy enough to carry a 1911 and 2 spare mags!
I recommend Hank’s Belts. I have several different varieties, and they are excellent. You can’t go wrong, from the gun belts to the dress belts. And the customer service is exceptional.
Same issue I had when my order arrived from one of the more popular brands in the market.
I ended up buying a cheap leather belt I found at a Marshalls.
They have Columbia, Levi’s, etc. and if you have time to window-shop, you might find one that fits your needs.

Take care & be well
+1 on Kore belts. It’s what I wear everyday. I’ll never go back to a regular belt. I wore mine through the four day MAG40 course and it works like a charm. I love the micro adjustability. I am working on losing some weight and with a normal belt I would have to buy something new. With the Kore, I just tighten it up and keep on going.
I also do love a Wilderness Tactical instructor belt. There’s just something about wearing a belt that can serve as a makeshift tow strap and a rappelling harness. However, they can be hard to get the sizing correct. And they do look tactical.
I took the idea of Hanks belts and one up on them. I make my own belts. I use two pieces of leather instead of one then glue them together then sow them together. I have had mine for years and holds my gun well with either IWB or OWB. It also holds my pants up just as good.
I had about eight belts, two I use and abuse on weekends in the yard, including a Versacarry leather belt which is good for 1911 OWB holster.
For EDC, I settled on these four. My favorite is the Columbia. Cheap but holds up well.
The middle two I like for easy adjustments. I’ve never handled a Kore so not sure if it’s like them.
For a surprise cheap belt, this one has held up for me very well so far. During the work day, I pocket carry and use an ordinary “dress” belt, but at home I change to comfortable cargo shorts or pants and either IWB or OWB carry, depending on what I’m doing and what I’m carrying. With that, I’ve been wearing this belt every day for a year now, slipping leather OWB or clipping kydex IWB holsters on and off every day, getting sweaty, etc, and it’s holding up perfectly. It’s holding its shape great, the stitching isn’t coming apart, and it looks like it’ll last for years still.
Love NexBelt. Their ratcheting belts allow for perfect tension, no matter what, in 1/4" increments.
The Wilderness
Another vote for Kore. Have been wearing mine almost daily for the past few years and hardly shows any wear. I sit a lot at work and my previous belts used to develop a notch where they hit the rear belt loop. No sign of it with Kore. The micro adjustments also keep it comfortable for IWB or OWB.
Welcome to the community!
I have 1.5" from Urban Carry and from We The People. Both very good. And I know that WTP runs sales promotions on their belts.
My next belt purchase will be from Kore.
Hope this helps you!
