“Walmart failed to prevent its third-party sellers from selling realistic-looking toy guns to New York addresses, violating our laws and putting people at risk,” she said.
“The ban on realistic-looking toy guns is meant to keep New Yorkers safe and my office will not hesitate to hold any business that violates that law accountable.”
Not a Real gun, not dangerous, can’t hurt anyone but in NY it’s illegal.
It makes more sense to ban realistic looking guns than to ban real guns that can be used for protection. If she is saying the people getting shot with realistic looking toy guns are at risk I totally disagree.
They’re banned because they have a toy switch that has the words “full automatic” You never know. It could really scare somebody and hurt their feelings.…Liberals are complicated
The risk is that someone with a toy gun that looks real could use it to perpetrate a crime. Or worse yet, create a Suicide by Cop scenario, where an officer has to be faced with all the consequences - trials, evaluations, psychological aftermath, etc. Toys should not be confused with the real deal.
As for the photo, news outlets often use ‘stock’ photos that have nothing in common with the story they are promoting. There is no way to know (without extensive research) whether the item in the photo is the same item that Walmart was cited for.
It’s crap like this that makes me in favor of a Wall surrounding NYC as demonstrated by the Kurt Russell movie “Escape From New York” in the hopes that this BS could be contained.
Wow, I can’t believe the state has done this and nobody has fought it in court. How is a toy gun going to endanger a community? If someone was stupid enough to commit a crim with it. then if they get shot by a good guy, they got what was coming to them. Don’t punish the kids because of stupid people.
That’s the same thing they are doing with the manufacturer’s. It’s not their fault someone uses one of the guns they manufacturer to kill someone. Its not the gun or manufacturer’s fault. It’s the idiot pulling the trigger. My gun has never just jumped out of my holster and shot anyone. Our courts are Screwwed up to allow this stupidity to continue within our justice system. Sorry for the rant.
You all are missing the point of restricting the look-alike toy guns. Its to protect the children who play with them from getting accidentally shot by anyone who can’t tell that its not a real threat. Isn’t there a law or rule or something that the toy manufacturers have to put a clearly visible safety-orange tip on the barrel?
OK! That tears it! I was drinking a Arizona Tea and read this Buddy!
(I should have known better, my fault but dammit! I almost lost a perfectly good Laptop!)
I was just going to respond to Enzo’s
