Presidents Day was spent cleaning/reorganizing my little gun cabinet. It’s a Stack-On (cheap, assembly required) I bought about a decade ago in preparation for applying for a CCW permit. I also have ammo bins next to it. Next range trip is Rimfire Edition so I looked for 22LR HV for the GSG 1911 and MP5 clone.
There was a half box of .38sp left behind after I sold my LCRx. No surprise, I knew it was there. But, I found some 22WMR from when I owned a Single Six convertible. Boxes had purchase dates which brought back memories of the ammo scare of 2012/2013. Here’s a few of them.
2013, I was a new gun owner. In my ignorance, I “hoarded” 22LR 20 grain because they were cheap. The only time I used them, it was like shooting blanks. I’ll bring a box for 3-yard distances and see if I could learn anything new about them.
Used to. In the last year, I found alot of 375H&H, some 458Lott, 338 winmag and 45/70. Got rid of the rifles but kept the ammo. I found homes for the orphaned ammo
Wow, some specialty ammo you had there. Used to hunt some big game?
I have (Mosin) Chinese T53 I never fired, just took apart to learn just a little about the inner workings of a firearm. Also, worked on the wood stock. I have a box of 7.62x54 for when I’m ready.
I would say that my ‘Validation’ for living happened watching the First show/First season of TWD/The Walking Dead. When Shane broke open his ‘Range Bag’ and found his partner Rick (4) rounds for his ‘Python’. I knew then I was not the only Gunner that carried around (or had in their collection) mismatched ammo. I requal’d with a .45 (largest caliber but I carry a .44 so I have a half box in a can, same goes for other Guns that have now flown to another nest, sold the gun, kept the ammo. If I didn’t donate a lot of mismatched ammo I couldn’t move around in my room.
Now, I have this one round picked up by my daughter on her way home, must have fallen out of someone’s pocket or range bag. One round does not justify the purchase of a firearm, does it?
I have one or two 12 gauge shells and don’t own a 12 gauge. And before you tempt me with the plethora of great 12 gauges available, I don’t hunt any more and home defense is covered
I still have about 20 boxes of 20 rounds of .22LR that I paid .25 cents a piece for back when I was in high school. I used to buy them at the Western Auto.
