The big question with doing away with it, like many seem to want, is what would replace it? Nothing? Same kind of stuff under a different name? Would acceptance start all over again?

I say out of the UN and out of NATO. I’m sick of the U.S. being the go to for fighting someone else’s conflicts. I’m in no way saying we won’t help our real allies, but it should be our choice and not forced upon us by ridiculous treaties. And when it’s over, we send them the bill. In addition, we don’t need any other entities telling us what vaccines to take, how we should live, who we should let in our country, what and which bugs to eat, what kind of car to drive, placing restrictions on what we can say, where and how often we can go places, and whether or not our constitution is relevant. It was asked what to replace it with, I say with the greatest document ever written, the US Constitution! In other words, we don’t need them or their ideas.

I agree and would also add that the UN be EVICTED from NYC and told to relocate to The Hague in France. As well, the US will no longer foot the lion’s share of the funding of such a useless organization. PLUS, under no circumstances will the US Military be under the command of foreign leaders OR be forced to wear Baby Blue Helmets.

Couldn’t agree more. What scares me (agreed it was a time ago) but in the 80’s at the Colton rail yards in CA, when going by saw miles of rail cars loaded with vehicles all with UN markings. Older granted, but EMP proof? Anyway, your comment about blue helmets brought this memory back. Been suspicious as hell since seeing this. Why were they on American soil?

Here is the problem with kicking the UN out of the country is this. IAW their charter they cannot interfere with the Host country which is us. Just saying.
The only thing I want to see is other countries paying their share. The U.N. receives approximately $70 billion a year of which the United States pays $18 billion. Which is more than the other permanent members of the U.N. Security Council with veto power combined. Ranked by contribution, they pay more than the top 10 most developed countries pay.

The discrepancy gets even worse when you talk about NATO.
The United States accounted for 68% of the total defense expenditures by NATO countries.
This is one thing Trump has gotten right from the beginning. Other countries should pay more to the U.N. and NATO. Everyone wants to complain about the U.S.A. being the World’s Policeman and its outsized influence on the World stage. Well, if anyone has a better plan, I’m all for it. But no one wants to foot the bill or do anything about it and quite frankly I am sick of the sh*t my Country takes. Do we protect our interests? Of course we do. But feel free other Countries of the World to step the duck up. Maybe then the U.S.A. could focus our energies on domestic concerns. Instead we pay and pay to ungrateful allies and even our enemies. They are lined up with one hand out for $$ and the other hand holding a knife, ready to stab us in the back.

The Ukraine, I get it, we need to help them fend off Russia. But Israel, one of the few allies we have who actually puts their $$ where their mouth is in the Middle East, we want them to cease fire in a conflict, they did not want. Because some asshat protesters (“who would be killed due to their lifestyles if they actually lived among the terrorists they so ardently support.”) want the Israeli’s to be more compassionate and tolerant. To people who killed 1400ish Israelis at a music festival, where they raped, and murdered, women and children, crushed infants skulls against against the walls of their homes. Who took 200 hostages that they drug through the streets of their city where the citizens celebrated this atrocity with wild abandonment. Hostages who they continued to tape and torture. Who murder the hostages if rescue is imminent rather than let them go free. Guess what.“Reap The Whirlwind” that these terrorists have brought down upon themselves.

The UN and NATO were created by the ‘Elite’s’ who were concerned about Countries
acting Independently (GOD forbid!). These ‘Organizations’ were formed for CONTROL purposes.
IF the UN was truly beneficial we would have no countries facing staggering STARVATION,
Rebel Gangs killing Innocents because they go to a different church, or entire Villages
wiped out so a massive Pipeline could be installed through sacred grounds.
IF NATO was Truly effective we would have PEACE!
The NATO ALLIANCE was formed so if ‘ROGUE’ states (read Terrorist groups) started any sh!t
NATO would band together to put down Evil and Rebellion. THIS NEVER HAPPENS.
NATO’S ‘response’ is always anemic @ best and usually results in their Trooper’s deaths.
Training is abysmal and the equipment is second rate @ best (and that’s prolly an understatement) .
The UN should be relocation to Europe where THEY can deal with the Elitist groups for a while.
The ‘rules for thee and not for me’ sucks in NYC (I admit my information is dated as I remember M$llions of dollars of Parking tickets (unpaid), RAPES (uncontested) because of Diplomatic Immunity

The UN I agree with. Giving countries preeminent Veto status was always a bad thing. considering that countries can change. Now since 2 are tryanicle dictatorships it’s completely useless. unless we can get rid of the veto power we need to pull out. NATO however is important in preventing WW3 and Russia invading most of Europe if not for NATO most of eastern Europe would probably be re invaded by now.
I semi agree. With NATO I want to see it like a poker game. Regardless of the players net worth, the buy in is the same. The European players should be putting in the same or more as they have the most to lose. And let me ask, if it was the US under attack, do you suppose they’d support us the way we support them? Sometimes the absolute fear of losing is the motivation to get into shape. When they have the motivation and policies of say Israel, then my attitude may change.
In the Deep South it still is when you get into the rural areas it seems like every barn has anti-UN sentiments painted on it.

Small detail here. Before the incident that crippled me I was a Regional Director with a Fortune 500 Company I had 300 stores I was responsible for. We financed our own sales and did our own collections. I mention this because as creditors we are very aware of a psychological principle that is alled the “Mazlov Hierarchy of Needs”. Which basically states people will pay for the things that are the most important to them.
That principle on a macro stage is the same. Nations pay for what is most important to them. There are 32 member nations of NATO. That means each Nation in NATO pays an avg of 1% of the cost for NATO.
“1%. Really? 1% per member Nation.” The U.S. pays the other 68%. That seems to be a pretty good deal for the EU and the other member Nations of NATO. Lest we all forget we are getting deeper and deeper into debt. Yet we keep paying for ungrateful Nations who pretend they have the moral high ground, and consider us… Insert verb here.
