Current events or Misleading headlines

Saw this headline, OMG!! The Sky is indeed falling!!!

But what a disappointment, it’s really not current events at least in the time continuum of earth.

" The Large Magellanic Cloud is currently in orbit around the Milky Way, located about 160,000 light-years away . Over the course of the next 2 billion years , the LMC will eventually collide with our galaxy.:

It current as of 2 billion years? Dang it, I thought there was going to be something to watch. Is it possible, the headlines are misleading?

And there’s another even BIGGER supermassive black hole on its way too when the andromeda galaxy collides with the Milky Way!!! Though that’s not for an even longer time…. So no real worries there.

My more immediate concern in space is where exactly is Planet X?

Its calculated orbit seems to roughly coincide with Earth being smashed by comets from the Kuiper Belt and the ort cloud…… and we are over due for a solid wallop!

2029 we are supposed to have a fly by , They say it will be around 19,000 miles . Asteroid Apophis . Who knows maybe you can get lucky Will. Jupiter will change it’s trajectory and BLAM … Time will tell … God has a plan …

Apophis will fly by so close that it will be naked eye visible for several minutes! Literally inside the orbit of our geosynchronous satellites!

It’s big enough to do some damage, but it’s only around 1100 feet in width, and its composition is believed to be a chondrite rubble pile. So a direct impact would only effect a small region on a global scale.

I think the larger risk with Apophis would be that earth’s tidal forces would rip it apart, and on its next pass by in 2036 it could be a cloud of smaller rocks and debris that will annihilate our satellite constellations and effectively end space exploration for decades

I can not wait to see what the probes bring back … As long as it doesn’t grow in the lab. Kill us all before AI does

I got all excited to see this picture of a sample from the OsirisRex mission to Bennu!

But it’s just hydrated sodium carbonate crystals😢

I wonder if they will tell the truth about life… It doesn’t seem to me. It is limited to just carbon based…

LOL if that stuff came to life would they call it … Purple people eaters

I wish they would speed this up. Sick and tired of watching the news and nothing else on TV. Too cold to do to much outside.

No one on earth will be around to see that. Our sun is slowly expanding and will have fried off our atmosphere about one billion years before the black hole hits us.

In more imminently current news is the newly discovered asteroid with a 2% chance of hitting us in 2032. It sounds like it is about the size of the asteroid that hit Rusia back in the early 1900’s. Think that one flattened 500 square miles of forest. Not earth ending but quite a mess if it does hit. Maybe even more so if it hit in the ocean and caused a tsunami.

The Kessler Syndrome is a very real threat. A cascading satellite collision event would not only destroy most if not all of the satellites currently in orbit, it would also make it impossible to launch new ones. Given how much our economy and military rely on all these satellites it would make for an epic disaster.

And it wouldn’t take Apophis breaking up to set it all off. All it would take is one of the thousands of existing pieces of space junk already floating around or the thousands of new pieces being thrown up there by China and Musk to hit the wrong satellite at the wrong time.

I heard the remedy for Kessler syndrome is still up in the air.

The Parker solar probe should tell us when this will happen… Not that any of us will be around … Maybe me. If they get my cybernetic body done in time …

You should always have some on hand. Ya never know. Just be sure you are not going to reply or you will get butter all over your keyboard. If you are going to reply do it before you start eating or eat a carrot.
