Contemplating A Doublestack

I love shooting Glocks. Gets expensive though. I mean one or two shots on the slide is usually ok, but if you hit the plastic part much, they don’t last long as targets. :grinning:

All depends on how big you want your pistol. Lots of double stack options in 9mm…but if you want to go .45 and don’t care about how big it is, you can’t go wrong with the Sig like others have mentioned.

Personally, my options are limited here in California and I am lucky to have finally gotten my hands on the Sig p365. Some may not like it due to issues in the beginning…but beggars can’t be choosers in this damn state. We take what we can get our hands on.

I had a sig p365. Nice guns, I like something a little bigger. Not too worried about size, I normally carry a gov or commander 1911.

I always got a kick out of the comment, “The reason I carry a .45 is because they don’t make a .46!”

Well, at least if you u run out of ammo, you an beat the suspect into submission!

If you go Sig, I just suggest you rent/fire one first. Before I went HK, I only shot the steel S&W’s and 1911’s in 45 (and a G21). I tried the Sig 220 and it just didn’t float my boat. YMMV.

If it matters, some striker fired are pretty close to SAO. IMO, striker fired pistols like the M&P have a soft takeup which deactivates the trigger and firing pin safety, then the wall is basically SA… again IMO.

But I’m sick and in the hospital, your supposed to say nice things about my Glock 41. Here I will show you. Glocks are Marvelous Modern Miracles of the craft of Gunsmithing :yum::joy::innocent::eyes::popcorn::cup_with_straw:

Ok,
I am NOT a Glock hater.
Yet I do have a 21 from the early '90’s (if ya’ll remember those, how big they were) well at the time I sent it out to Robar to do the grip, then the sights, mag. Release, and barrel. Well for a gun that costs, what about 100.00$ to make after you spend all the money to get it where you want it. I bought a legion p229. Love it. Love the 21 too! Yet it was my first and last Glock.
It just seems to not be cost effective. (To me). Yes they have a Great after market, why? Hummm.

Well sense I seem to be defending Glock Solo. My experience, with a Glock 30 and 41 is they are SD and HD Gund only that cost me under $600 They come out of the box factory, they are accurate, good grip (for me) and God for I’d I ever have to use one in SD or HD and it’s taken for Forensics I’m not going to cry. Will just get another. Now I have some .45 that are competition guns well over $5,000 that I would tend my clothing and wail in despair over losing.

So, recap of why I love my Glocks as SD/HD weapons. Stone cold reliable straight out of box, adcurate, goes bang when I pull the trigger, high quality gun for it’s cost to quality ratio.

@TexasEskimo will be proud reading this.

Ok… enough of teasing…
Nothing to defend… Glocks are confirmed to be reliable tools, no doubt.

Not. Trying to trash Glocks. Good reliable guns. I just don’t like them, and want a SA only gun. I have owned m&p, Glock, Kahr, and Sig striker fired guns. I have shot the Baretta, Ruger striker fired guns. Just don’t care for them.

Every one has their preference. Appreciate the info. Looking forward to shooting a Legion next weekend.

I have recently been won over by the Springfield XD9. I own the 4 inch and 3 inch sub. This may sound like a contradiction of terms but this is a truly SA striker fired pistol (requiring grip safety). A bit much on pre-travel but amazing fire and re-set as shipped. Everyone that has fired mine has been impressed. If you get a chance to fire one you may be too. Oh, and it has a double stack 13 round flush and 16 round extended magazine, plus one.
