**Confederate Flag**

Was that a leaf on the tree of freedom that got ‘watered’?

I’ve certainly sopped up plenty of blood with them! :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

That’s a piece of cloth, something to be used for a utility….

I will use a cloth to wipe up leaked oil from an engine, or to put pressure on a bleeding wound.

I have yet to water the tree of liberty with anything beyond the tears of liberals crying about my guns!
:cry::cry:

I firmly support everyone’s right to see a flag anyway they want to. I love this country and the people in it. This is my home and I have defended it and will continue to defend it, just like the literal house in which I live. If someone was bleeding and a flag was the only piece of cloth available to stop the bleeding? There’s zillions of flags for about everything. I thought the original topic was about the Confederate flag. If it’s about symbolism, what did the Confederate flag represent? Did it represent a States or a collation of states, right to rebell, against the very country they decided to become a State within this country? Technically the civil war was a rebellion. Common sense dictates it was a war. Who actually fired the first shot making it a violent rebellion?

Yep. But it’s hard to retract, regardless if history states something different than personal opinions of people or hearsay.

Is family above country or the other way around?

We’ve typed a lot over the years of allegiance and this topic seems to be tied to that. At least visually if not in reality.

Let me just summarize.

We all have the right to fly whatever flag we wish. When we do so, we best be ready to defend it. IMO, the safest choice is the flag of our country. Clearly, opinions vary and we each make our own choices.

God Bless America our hard earned freedoms

No, and the “confederate” flag is not the Flag of the Confederacy. Looking back at my youth in a Northern state, I saw the Battle Flag of the Northern Army of Virginia used as a symbol of rebellion - not as a symbol of the CSA, but just just as against the main stream thought. Many groups and bands used it, even the TC show Dukes of Hazard used it. It had lost any symbolism of when it first flew.

Leftist like to claim that those that bear the flag are racist, but I know several blacks that wear that flag. It does not mean what the left claims. I have made Virginia my home for more than 30 years now, so I have learned a lot about that war since then, and I am still learning. People like to tie it to slavery, but there were still slave states in the Notth, and the Northern states was where the slave traders were. They were the ones that shipped slaves to the colonies and the USA,

Lincoln did not “free” the slaves nor declare war because of slavery. He declares war to “preserve the Union.” His Emancipation Proclaimation” did not free any slaves. If his goal was truly freeing the slaves, he would not have exempted the states and territories that had not seceded.

As to Fort Sumpter, Lincoln was going to send troops to that base to fight the CSA, but the CSA captured the fort before it could be used against them. It is nonsensical to allow a nation that declared war on you to have a base deep in its midst.

Wow, really? Well, what does it mean today? I guess if you are an inbred redneck, it means home.
In this world you have created, do “look at those GAY guys” means they are just happy?
I know you guys live with whatever at the moment makes you GAY—oop’s, I mean Happy.

The Confederate flag (primarily the battle flag, a blue diagonal cross on red) represents a complex, controversial symbol of white supremacy, slavery, and Southern heritage. While some view it as a nod to ancestral history, others define it as a symbol of racism and hate. Its usage spans historical wartime, post-war remembrance, and modern extremist intimidation.

As I have stated, fly this flag if you want. or the Nazi flag. How about walking around today’s college campuses with a Palestinian flag? You will not look any less ridiculous to any normal person.

Hi Dave. You’re so right about the beginning of the civil war not being about slavery. The slavery issue was like an afterthought later. It took Lincoln 3 days to amass 75,000 troops, (after the Confederacy took Sumpter), for the purpose of putting down the rebellion. I haven’t seen alota of Virginia, but really liked what I saw. I guess this has gotten way off subject, but I do love discussing this countries history. I used to live in Southern pines, N. Carolina. Also made it to Arlington a couple of times.

And yet in the South, you will see Blacks wearing that flag, too. I guess they are stupid? or you believe they are black white supremicists or “confused”? Good to see you are comfortable showing your true racist colors. You probably also believe they can’t get IDs to vote, yet at gun shows you see many buying firearms, which requires them to have valid government IDs.
